Japanese Dog Grooming Style Gallery from Torrance CA

Wow, thanks to whoever posted our link in the forum. We've had an influx of people requesting Japanese style cuts!

We didn't know there would be such a high interest in the styling and coloring we did.

Our pictures were scattered on our site so we put together one gallery showing some of our recent Japanese style coloring and cuts.

Puff was a senior toy poodle around 16 years old with some health problems. The client wanted a "youthfull makeover" for her cherished toy poodle.

You're welcome! You do beautiful work! How did you learn to do all these styles? Was it more studying photos or do you have some books you can suggest?

          Thank you!

We're located in a community with a large population of Japanese and Japanese americans.
Our salon is located next to a Japanese supermarket.
Our groomers graduated from 4dogsgrooming academy which is run by a trainer from Japan.
So in our area, these styles are fairly common.
There are also a few Japanese bookstores nearby that have grooming picturebooks and magazines from Japan.

We'll try to add some youtube video's soon as well.

Youtube PLEASE!!!! The one thing I'm super curious about is the bridge of the nose. It looks like there's hair left between the eyes, and then further down the snout it might be shaved? How are you achieving that look? I've been growing out my toy poodle for a while now and I really want to give him a style like this. So cute. SOOO CUUUTE.

I do these styles a lot Ashk. For the teddy poodle style head I clip just in front of the eyes with a ten and then I use the Wahl combs to do the rest of the head, using one size smaller for the topknot and sides of the face than I do for the muzzle and shorter again under the chin eg: yellow comb top and sides of head, light purple for muzzle and tan in reverse for under chin. Scissor it all tidy and its done. Its not hard and turns out very cute.

Which toy poodle are you referring to? We don't use clippers or shave, but everything is shaped by hand scissoring.

                  Thank you

Ryu the Maltipoo came back in for coloring of the ears, tail, and feet! Photos

                      http://www.flickr.com/photos/doggroo...7623840465273/

The original picture of this dog was pretty popular on our blog. The client came back in after a few months so you can see how the coloring fades after 3 months or so.

We redid a full groom with a teddy bear cut and redid the ears, tail, and feet.

Ryu wasn't that excited to have all that foil on him, but he was very very calm, making the process go faster.

We were able to get the process on video so we'll up it to youtube soon.

A local cable access show devoted to dogs called K-9 corner got wind of us and featured our Salon Pink Pucci on the show!
We got to give the announcer's long hair chihuahua a makeover with some fiery red ears and tail.

How do you like the red on a dark haired dog? We had no idea how it would turn out, but luckily it turned out ok.

I gotta say, Ryu is just about the cutest thing on four feet I've seen in a long, long time. I absolutely LOVE what you did with the color! Wish my clients were that adventurous....

Here's a video of Ryu the maltipoo. He's had coloring done before and it's been a few months since the initial coloring.
He's in for a full grooming and full coloring of he feet, ears and tail with vegetable based dog safe hair dye from Japan.

                          What do you think?
