  • Sanitary Cut for Competition

Can anyone tell me if there is a big difference between a regular sanitary clip as opposed to one for a grooming competition.

Thank you so much for any help!

      depends on the dog

There are some breeds you CAN NOT clip the groin on... apparently american cockers can, but don't do it on an english... big no no on short legged terriers, but most long legged terriers it's ok.

You don't do a sani on american cockers either. SO I need more information.

          Oh my god!!!

How silly am I?? I was quickly reading through the post titles and did a double take here! I thought it said 'Sanitary Cut Competition'! And believed it for a second, thinking- 'wow, we groomers are getting PRETTY darn competitive these days!' LOL!

I rarely compete with a podle, but usually they are done farily typically, and by that I mean rather clean. Intact males should be cleaned up around the testicles and sheath, inside the legs and up the tummy slightly. Females, the tummy, a bit down the legs and the Vulva clean.

                Do what

Debi said only do not clip the inside of the legs at all. That hair is nessasary to create the parallel lines that are called for in the standard! Scissor that area!

WELL that makes sense! Like I said, I rarely do poodles......one reason I dont do well with them is most likely my sanitary! LOL Sigh.....thanks Sally.
