    How do you say Bichon.

    I say like BEE shawn.

When I was in Atlanta I attended a B Bird seminar & she had her beShown.
I don't correct owners either. It's their dog. Call'em what they want.
    Tomato - toe maato!

I was at a show & asked a Borzoi handler or owner or how to say Borzoi. He deemed me too much trouble to bother with.

I don't know the Caniches. Help!

    Bichon Frise

Because I have had a little French taught in school, and my sister speaks French (I checked with her) It is Bee Jown. Not like town, but almost the z sound. without hearing me, it is hard to explain.Own with a zja sound.in front of it. Free-zay.bee then zjaown. Or, that fuzzy white dog over there, haha. I love the way owners say bejohn freeze and apsa lapsa. It's easier to say your little dog, or my little dog and leave it at that.

I say it the same way you do. But I have heard others say it differently. I don't bother to say anything to them. To each his own I guess.

A few months ago I had an owner calling wanting an appointment for his
"by kon". At first I had no idea what he was talking about and was speechless for a second. Then he goes you know a "by kon" and spelled it bichon.. I said ,"oh yes a by kon!" I am in the same mind set its their dog, then can call it what ever they want. Who am i to correct them!!! LOL
I usually call them B!tchin frizzies!!

I had a lady call for an appointment for her dipshu...huh?! After a while I realized she meant shihtzu. Which reminds me, I don't think many of my clients at all call it a SHIHtzu...they call it a Sh!t Zoo, lol.

I learned how to pronouce some of them from watching the Eukanuba show. They pronounce breeds differently than what I had heard here in Texas. Like for instance the Samoyed is correctly pronounced SAMY-ed I used to say some-MOY-ed Shih-tzu is SHEE-zoo (t is silent) visla is not just visla it is VIZ-SULA
Any one know how to correctly pronounce Lowchen, is it Low or Lau ?
Is Coton CO-ton or cotten like Wonton soup or cotten balls?

The announcers don't always have it 100% right, either. For example, the t in Shih tzu isn't silent. It's pronounced like a d. Shee dzu. And vizsla is pronounced veezshla...kind of like the s in vision.

Lِwchen? I actually haven't been able to find a pronunciation key, but the ِ suggests lau, rather than low.
