I recently got a few Oster Zerion blades, and 2 out of 3 of them have not worked correctly since I took them out of the package. Yes, I did clean and oil them to start out and have kept oiling them when trying to use them. They start grabbing hair like a dull blade. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

New Oster Blades not cutting

Yes this is too common of a problem lately with them. Oster did a new design to the cutter and blade guide on the A-5 blades and for some reason the tension is too loose most of the time. Try sliding the cutter with your finger and it is probably really easy to move. Better yet use the scale method to check the spring tension. If not sure how to do this go to our site www.thebladeguyz.com and see the video on how to do it. The tension is going to be less than 2.5 lbs, more likely around 1 to 1.5 lbs which is too light for cutting fur.
With the new cutter design a situation that can happen is if the socket gets bent too far forward it will wedge better the backrail of the cutter and actually stop the cutter from moving at all. This can really mess up a drive/leve/gear in a hurry!!
Another thing to check with any new blade reagardless of brand is the socket ears for proper adjustment. This also has a video on it too and really this is a must have skill because you will have to adjust blades at some point, even after you get them sharpened because the test clipper the sharpener used may have a hinge that is slightly smaller or bigger than yours so a minor adjustment needs to be made. You would think that Brand "A" blade should fit snuggly to brand "A" clipper but they don't. Sometimes doing this simple adjustment can help too, but not if the tension is too light.
