Had a lady bring in 4 dogs today for grooming. Two pit bulls, a collie/shepherd X and this little American Eskimo. They had only ever had him shaved off in the past. When I explained about double coated breeds, and how shaving doesn't help them stay cooler, they opted to let me show them another way of doing things. Meet Nugget, before and after:
The owner has since called me, ecstatic over her dogs, thanking me profusely and told me she would be back.

          Good job, Nugget looks great!

I bet some groomers would just look at the packed coat and tell the owner the dog needs to be shaved, not knowing that these types of coat can be successfully blown out to result in the beautiful looking healthy coat. So, I admire you, Hucksmom, for recognizing it and educating the customer. (Of course, if the owners insist on shaving there is not much you can do).

Hope she comes back to you every 6 to 8 weeks and every 6 to 8 months.

I actually told her every two months would be ideal, but every three months is ok too. Just don't let it go a full year, and then bring him in. Told her it would be easier for both me and him to bring him in more regularly.
