  • Best vacation locations

Alright -- Mary is going to Cancun. Where is everyone's favorite vacation destination. In 2006, I went to Kauai and loved every minute of it.

I have blocked out some vacation time in late June, but haven't a clue as to where I would like to go. Any ideas?

    St. Maarten & Santa Fe

Last year my partner and I went on a Caribbean cruise to celebrate our big birthdays, and St Maarten was my very favorite island. I wouldn't mind going just there for a vacation. Also, we were in New Mexico to visit family. That was beautiful and there's lots to do in Santa Fe!

My favorite place to the south is Jamaica. When we were on our honeymoon cruise that was one of the places we stopped. We almost didn't get back on the ship. lol

I have to say that one of my other favorite places is Montreal, Canada. I love everything about it from the architecture to the people, to the shopping, to the touristy things. I love the fireworks competition they have at La Ronde- the best ever.

My husband doesn't like to leave the country but I have finally convinced him to go on cruises. We like to go on cruises to anywhere. Bermuda is really beautiful, and we liked St Maarten, and the Caymans. We are going to Jamaica for the first time this year. We also like Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon was spectacular.
When I was in College I went to Europe for a semester. Spain is great along with Paris and Venice. We also had a great time in Switzerland.

We have a cabin on a private lake in northern Michigan. I'd rather go there than anywhere else. Sorry, but y'all can't use it. LOL.

I don't like big cities, tourist traps, anywhere there's lots of people. My idea of the perfect vacation is being far, far away from people, noise, congested streets. Total isolation, a stack of trashy bodice rippers, tons of good eats, a lake to fish in, with just my partner and my dog to keep me company. Heaven.

My idea of a vacation is pretty much like Helly's but since we don't own a Michigan cabin we have to make do with the Basin Harbor Club in Vermont. Fabulous lakeside setting on Lake Champlaign, private cottages, faboo 4* dining, golf and tennis onsite if you're so inclined and !Antique! shopping out the wazoo.

Oh my goodness, definitely MEXICO! We have lots of fam there - what a great gift! So we not only get to see family, but also get a great vacation when we go. Cancun is beautiful and the water & beaches are WONDEFUL! Cabo San Lucas and other beach spots in Baja are great too, but the water is colder and not as much fun to play in - plus it's way overpriced!! Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco) is our all around favorite spot in Mexico - the beach and water are HEAVENLY and it's much more reasonabley priced since it's not a huge resort spot - yet anyway...hopefully never! We love Jamaica too, but no family there - so Mexico remains on the top of the list. Just depends what you like and what you're looking for in a vacation. It's gotta have swimmable water for me to think vacation.

I went to Atlantis in the Bahamas for my honey moon a few years ago. It was amazing!!!! I highly recommend it. I can not wait to go back there again!

Darn it Helly I was going to ask to use your cabin!! lol Sounds wonderful. But since you already said no I guess I'll just have to pack up the RV and hit the road to the mountains. Fresh air, no one around to bother us or our dogs, a lake handy so hubby can go and fish and I can just sit back and read, eat or sleep. I like to have NOTHING to do when I'm on vacation. I don't want to be running from one place to another. All I want to do is just RELAX, that is the best.

I'd rather be in a cabin somewhere away from civilization too. We go camping every year. But I am such a chicken...once it gets dark, I dont come out of the cabin or tent. And if I do, I have a big spot light and jump at every little noise. LOL
And I want to go on an African Safari? HA!! I'd probably pee my pants if I ever rolled up on a Lion in one of those little jeeps! LOL

well if we can't use it the least you could do is show us a good pic so we can pretend we are there.

Well gee, if it was up to me, I'd probably let you use it. But the lake association won't allow it. I guess that's the price you pay to keep a private lake private. There are only 14 cabins on the whole lake, and the association owns all the land surrounding it, (it's a mile back in the woods) so it's nice and private.
