Well, here I am...3:30 in the morning and I can't sleep. I woke up the day before Christmas with a sore throat and that turned into a full blown cold that lasted until the following Sunday. Well, two weeks later and I'm sick again. My throat is on fire and my nose is stuffed up. I have never, in my entire life, been sick so close together and I am not a happy camper. I know I'm not going to get back to sleep and I have to get up at 6 anyways. Boy it is going to be a loooonnnnggggg day.

Man, I know how you feel. Last year I got 2 colds one right after another.
One customers told me to take Vit.C twice daily to help prevent colds & wash my hands often. Like I have me hands in water 3/4 of the day the way it is. So I faithful took Vit.C twice daily since....Guess what I just got the other day? YUP, A NASTY head cold...rats<<>> I feel like my head is going to explode, plus it's hard to find cold meds for being on High blood pressure.
Hope you feel better soon...

I'm always getting sick. I think my son brings stuff home from school. October or November, I had a cold that turned into pneumonia. Then the beginning of Dec I got another head/chest cold. Christmas I had the stomach flu.
Monday I took my son to the Dr..he has strep throat. I just hope I dont get it.

I was singing the blues a year ago.. same story.. and I figured out what was going on..
I was working long hours, and didn't have time to cook.. I was eating nothing but fast food and junk food. Sick Sick Sick!
Then I got onto one of those "natural health food" kicks.. started buying organic foods and eating at restaurants instead of fast food (we also have children, 6,3,1).. and guess what?! I've not been sick nearly as much! I'm still working the same hours, around just as many sick people.. but I'm NOT SICK! (knock on wood). Occasionally I'll take vitamins when I remember, as well as other supplements.. but it's not daily.
I have a new cook book..it's called "Nurishing Traditions", and I plan on incorporating that diet into my lifestyle..(it won't be easy), but as they say, you are what you eat.. and if only bad goes in, then you'll be sick all the time!
Sorry about the rant, I'm passionate.. and if you're diet isn't wrong.. well I'm sorry for ASSuming..

furry, hope your feeling a little better. I had cold hit me like that too. It is the pits!!! Knock on wood, I haven't gotten one this winter. It's bad enough to have a cold but then you usually have to work too. Working at home I just call my clients and tell we have to reschedule if I'm really feeling bad. They don't mind."There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face."

I rarely get sick, but when I do, it's something horrible. Other people get colds; I get pneumonia. Other people get flu; I get whooping cough. Other people get a sore throat; I get strep so bad I have to spit because I cannot swallow. Once my sore throat was mono.

I caught a cold from my granddaughter at Christmas but I was able to get rid of it relatively quickly.
I have found that when I get a flu shot in the fall and I catch a cold during the season, the cold is much less severe and I am able to recover much quicker than if I hadn't gotten the flu shot.

I rarely get sick too, and I have to admit I'm a big baby about it (although I continue to do what I need to do). I would have loved to reschedule today's dogs, but I am so busy I wouldn't be able to get them in for 3 weeks. I'm actually working 6 days a week the next 2 weeks. I'm sure, diemonster, that diet definitely could play a part. I'm in such a rush that I usually have dunkin donuts for breakfast, miss lunch and then order out for dinner. It doesn't help that my husband likes ordering out too. I haven't had an after Christmas break and I've been tired. I also found out that there is an absess above one of my teeth and I have to go see an oral surgeon (Its close to my sinus cavities), so that infection might be playing a part too.don't find yourself up a creek without a poodle.

Then I lost a filling and went to the dentist. He X-rayed the tooth and discovered an abcess. It was draining into my sinus, which was why the tooth never hurt. Since I had that fixed (root canal), I haven't had a sinus infection or ear ache. And no more colds every time I turn around, either.

Yes and any infection
takes all you have to be fighting, and thus makes you so vulnerable to any disease. Hopefully you can get that taken care of and come out well again.Money will buy you a pretty good dog but it won't buy the wag of it's tail.

Home remedy!!
Here is a great home remedy for colds/congestion. My friend told me about this years ago. At first I laughed at her till I tried it! First get a small small bottle of Rockin Rye Whiskey. Pour a shot add a dallop of honey and a peppermint candy. Warm it up and drink it down. Then rub your feet w/Vicks Vapor Rub (yes your feet). Put on your warmest socks and jammies, cover up and sleep the night away. You will be sweaty when you wake up but you will feel soooooo much better! Like I said I didn't believe it till I tried it and it worked for me! If you can't drink the whiskey just do the feet rub. It doesn't work quite as well, but it does help. Hope you get back to feeling better soon!SheilaB from SC
