Storms In Washington

I just got home (near Kenmore) from the Redmond area - lights were flickering before I left. The freeways are jammed, power outages starting in Seattle, Whidbey Island and up around you I hear. The wind is starting to howl and rain really picking up. Since I'm in the notorious "convergence zone", there may be 8" on the ground by morning. Sounds like a snow day to me
Stay warm and safe up there!

Yeah, This is especially scary if your mobile.
Last Friday night we had 2 - 4 inches of snow dropping. I was so nervous about getting in that van the next morning. Lucky for me the wind was whipping so much it blew all the snow someplace else. (Don't know where)
Saturday was only a little icy in spots but mostly a nice cold day.

Here in B.C. Canada, we have unusual wild bad weather from Sepetmber. B.C. is Washington's neighbour and we have similar weather. Not too many people want to groom their dogs under this bad weather. Think about it, when the dog arrived home from grooming , it will be a filthy dog again. I am glad I saved for the raining days before. Now the wind is kicking everything out outside.

I live in upstate/central New York also, and everytime I look outside this storm looks worse and worse. I cant see the roads right now. My husband drives truck locally and becuz of this I am always terrified when it is yucky outside. Maybe I can convince him to call in sick. Everyone in our house has bad colds, so maybe he really could? I hope your power stays on!!! Stay warm!!
ps-greymom, where do you live? I dunno if you would be willing but I have been trying for awhile now to get in to watch a groomer at work, and even apprentice in return for bathing, etc. I dunno if you are interested or know someone who might be? Someone mentioned in the old board bringing cookies? I am a really good baker, just ask my hubbie!! thanx

Power just came back on, It goes off for a little while then comes back on. The wind is blowing like crazy and the temp is dropping fast. I'm glad I have a warm house, 4 furbabies and a husband to keep me warm tonightLast edited by plushpuppy; 01-09-07, 07:42 PM."Whoever Said That Money Can't Buy Happiness Forgot About Puppies"

Hope your power stays on, Plush! Aren't you glad you work at home?!! I remember those snow days when I had my shop in Bothell. I lived on top of a big hill, and there was no way I was gonna drive on snow/ice. Most of my clients felt the same way. I did spend a few nights at my shop in bad weather. After the first time, I stashed some overnight supplies, and my sleeping bag. If I knew the weather was going to get bad, I brought all my dogs to work with me. A couple times, I had to call my neighbor to go in and feed my guys ay home. We may get a few flurries here, but mostly high winds again. Power stays on good here, tho.Old groomers never die, they just go at a slower clip.
Groom on!!!

God Blessed Texas
We are worried because it will freeze this weekend thats about all we get. I took my daughter to Oklahoma a few weeks ago to a dog show there hoping she could see snow for the first time, but it ended up being like 70 degrees. Just the weekend before we were in Amarillo and I saw real snow still frozen on the ground and it wouldn't melt even though during the day it was in the 50's and 60's. It was weird to me I don't get out much.
But I hope you stay warm and cozy and safe.

No snow here yet, and I live in Greenwater...near Crystal Mountain. Keeping my fingers crossed that it won't start until tomorrow morning.
Karla...I do like you did. If it looks too bad, I load everybody up and head to the shop for the night...Gotta love that 3 foot commute...from my back room to the front counter! LOL!

Dogma, Yeah I love my 3 foot commute also. Don't think I would have it any other way. I lived in greenwater for awhile. I was the Store manager at crystal about 11 years ago. We loved that area. But I turned out to be one of those people that likes going to the snow I don't like it coming to me. It's 10:15pm and the snow has just started here"Whoever Said That Money Can't Buy Happiness Forgot About Puppies"
