I'm taking a vote for the best name for a dark sable GSD out of:

    Brenna-Raven maid, dark haired (celtic)
    Tala-Stalking Wolf (Native American)
    Frieda-Peace/Joy (Old German)

My mom asked me if I knew any GSD's that needed homes and my coworker who works with the police dogs happened to have an 8 month old female that wasn't suitable for breeding because she was too skittish. So my parents were going to adopt her, they even came down here, but I guess she got attached to me right away. She will let my mom sit with her and pet her, but she is TERRIFIED of men. The house has 3 men (Dad and my two grown brothers) so we decided it isn't going to work. She follows me around and acts like a completely different dog when she's alone with me, so I think I'm keeping her! She's absolutely gorgeous and soooo sweet, how can I say no? :P

I will post pics later or tomorrow, but I need help naming her, so be sure to vote.

    Frieda

I love anything to do with joy.

    2nd choice is Brenna.

I'm voting for Tala. Just like the sound of it.

Here are some pics for inspiration:

By the way, she's playing with Mollie, not eating her. Mollie's method of play involves flipping on her back to chew on her opponent's ankles. lol

She looks like a Brenna or Tala but Freida reminds me of Frito's which reminds me of Frito feet smell. My top pick is Brenna~

Is she from German lines or American lines? If she's German is she from DDR lines? (east german)

If she's from German lines I say pick a German name for her. If not I'll go with the Tala... That one I like the best..

But she's your dog. Good luck with her...

Personally I like Brenna best, but think maybe she looks more like a Tala. Let us know what you decide.

Yep she's from a DDR line... Those are great dogs. Very expensive. She's going to be a great dog. Good luck with her.

If you want more info about them visit this website and e-mail this lady. Her name is Kana and she's been breeding DDR Shepherd for 25 years. She's also been training for 30. If you have any question about her she would be glad to answer them and give you training tips also.

                  I still like Tala.

Well, being Irish myself, I'd have to go with Brenna, esp since she's so dark. I love that coloring on gsd's. If it counts in the ballots, hubby says Brenna, mom says Brenna, baby says Brenna, boyfriend says Brenna, neighbor says Brenna........we all say Brenna! Good luck with whatever you choose.

ps i think a german name would be more fitting though...much to my chagrin.

Gretta wouldn't work, my name is Margaret which is what Gretta is short for. :P

So far Brenna and Tala are tied.

Thanks Raggs, I will check the page out. My coworker who does a lot of work with the K9's said the dogs from german lines aren't usually skittish like her. Personally, I think she may always be a bit shy but can get over the skittishness, I just need to socialize her. Its odd, around just me she isn't skittish at all, she's just a big sweetheart. She's always by my side and if she happened to wander into the other room she will come racing back if I start to get up or clap or call her. Even as I type this she is laying smooshed up next to me.

                              Poor baby.

It sounds like she has some serious separation anxiety issues. My Boxer acted like this (still does sometimes). I think it was because Jessie went through 2 different owners before she came to me. Now that I have had her for over three years I think she realizes that she is here to stay and has calmed down some. I hope you are able to help her get over her "issues". She is too lovely of a dog to have to stay a "shut in" because of her nerves. It sounds like she has the perfect person to help her!
