  • cat chasing dog?!

So another funny thing that happens in our house. Our cat chases our dog. she hides under the end table and the dog comes and sniffs under it w/his little butt in the air, its so cute. Then she comes flying out like a little furry demon, lol. She chases him all around the kitchen table, then goes back to her hiding spot and it starts again. She has only tried "hurting" him once, she just kinda slapped him on the nose, no nails as far as I can tell. He is a baby though, so he yelped. But he invading her space too much I think. I always thought dogs chased cats. Not here, not now. It is really cute, and when people come over, they always love to watch it. They are like, so why do you guys have a tv again?? lol. I am sure there are other cats that do this too, but I just love to watch ours. LOL.

When I lived in Korea, there was a US military base nearby, a HUGE one. Well, I was housesitting for some base members one time, and their house was huge, and very long (I was so used to Korean housing being built UP, not OUT), and enjoyed all the space. Well, suddenly I see Spike chasing one of their cats down the hall, through the family room (huge) down the next hall...that's a lot of running. I said, "Git 'er Spike!" Next thing I know the whole thing is in reverse coming back, the cat was chasing Spike, it was a hoot.

My kitten is brutal to my poor beagle. He will leap on her back and acts like a lion taking down a wilderbeast. He will also bite down on her tail or attack her face. She's so patient with him, if he actually hurts her she'll mouth at him or chase him off to let him know she's had enough. Only once in a while will she get playful and initiate playtime.

Bart (my Siamese X) and Libby (Catahoula) do mock battle. I used to worry about the dog being too rambunctious and pestering the cat; I'd tell her to leave him alone, and 5 minutes later Libby would walk thru the kitchen with the cat hanging from her neck. I now realize it's the cat that starts it most of the time. Just like refereeing kids. Pointless! They also sleep together every night and greet each other when the other one comes in. It's very cute.

All my dogs loved the cats, and had an understanding, if the cat runs, dogs get to chase them, if the cat turns and tries to nail them, no more chasing. They also quickly figured out that when I would call the kitty's I would go hereee kitty kitty - pss pss pss. They decided that pss pss pss pss meant chase the cat. Of course I thought that was great and would sick the dogs on the cats with a nice little pss. Well, hubby has hearing loss from when he was in the AF as well as tinitis (ringing in the ears) so if I did it really softly the dogs would hear it but not him. So there he would be with all 3 dogs across his lap watching a scary movie, and I would wait for the most gruesome part and do a quiet little pss pss pss. Three dogs flinging themselves across, over and on top of freaked out hubby. Didn't matter if the cat was even in the room, any pss pss pss would get them going. ahhhh good times good times

My kitty Amy has all of our dogs under her power...lol.. A few years ago my Cocker Joe was "stalking" her in the back yard. You could tell that Amy knew Joe was there but just ignoring him. I couldn't resist saying "git her Joe" so he started chasing her. Well he chased her for about 10 seconds when Amy suddenly whirled around and charged him. He SCREAMED like something was killing him!!! Amy never even came close to him she charged up the tree and sat up there laughing at him. Cats are soooo cool.

Our Zip (cat) and Peanut (dog) LOVE eachother. Zip loves to stalk Peanut. She will sit in the kitchen chair and wait for Peanut then jump right in the middle of him, then play time begins. Around and around the house they go. It is so funny. Once in awhile Scoop gets in on the action, but it is usually just Peanut and Zip. The other night after we had gone to bed, Zip was sitting on HER chair and Scoop ran by (he didn't know she was there) and she jumped in the middle of him, I thought Scoop was going to have a heart attack. Scared the beejeezies out of him. Scoop ran for my bed, for safety!!!
