  • It's 3:30 a.m. and I am till at work!

Not really!!! I have just been dreaming about it all night and feel like I have been at work!!!! I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep because I was dreaming that I was grooming, and the shop was full of boarding dogs and cats. I look out the window and a fire truck is outside w/the lights flashing!!! I go to run out to see what is going on and all of the lights in the shop go off!!! When I get outside, the fire men are letting my boarding cats out of their cages outside! I am trying to tell them that there is no fire, but they won't listen to me and start stomping through the shop and chopping on walls!!! Holy **** what did I eat last night!!! Oh yeah Sushi!!! lol Maybe that did it. <note to myself: No eel handrolls w/extra wasabi before bed>
Oh well, since I can't get back to sleep I might as well read the board. I was too tired last night, but I am WIDE awake now...lol

Yikes! What a night. Sounds like you deserve a nice glass of wine and a dip in a warm jacuzzi each night after work. At least you got to use the time that you couldn't sleep productively!

I always feel so ripped off when I dream about work and then wake up in time to work! It's like a 16 hr workday. I probably wouldn't mind if the grooming in my dreams was great, but my grooming dreams are always of a crazy workload or a crazed dog. Sucks.

That's me, and I dream about grooming EVERY night.

I have clipped the nails on black widow spiders, I have been asked to groom dolphins, and I once dreamed I was running my hand down the back of a yellow lab sitting on my grooming table. When my hand reached his rear, I gave him a good pat or two and said good boy. I woke up and was patting my husband's bum and telling him "Good boy" in my sleep.

My husband is a light sleeper and is tired of me grooming him!

Oh my! At least you weren't doing the lab's glands in the dream! Hubby would've been most surprised! LOL .

Glad to know I am not the only one who grooms all night....lol...A groomer buddy of mine can't believe I dream about grooming all the time. Spikey, I have never woken up petting my hubby's butt and calling him a good boy (he would probably like it if I did...lol), But I did reach up toward him when he came to bed after I was sleeping and say "JR, is that you?" (his name is Todd). I had to do some talking to convince him that I really was dreaming about a dog and not a boyfriend....lol...not really, he knows I dream about dogs, not men!!

I dream about grooming too, mostly it's about leaving for lunch and coming back to customers waiting for their ungroomed dog. Or I'm back working at the animal clinic where the office girls can't book dogs right and I have too many dogs to do and I can't get them all done.
Man, I hate working all night too.

I've had that nightmare too! I went for lunch, went to a gas station to buy lotto tickets, looked up at their clock and it was 5:30pm. Oh ****! I've been missing for 5 hours and those dogs aren't done! OMG OMG. I'm in deep doodoo. Then I woke up in time to groom 5 real ones. Hated that dream.

Oh man, I'm glad that I'm not the only one...well I guess it makes sense that we would dream about grooming...we sure spend a lot of time doing it too!
I had a horrible night one night. I had probably five dreams in a row about me nicking dogs, and boy was I scared to death about going to work the next morning...I was so sure I was gonna kill a dog or something...like my dream was prophetic, lol.

Man Tammy, you are toooooo funny! I even read your post to my mom and dad and they just rolled!

I rarely if ever dream about grooming. I've practiced lucid dreaming for years, and don't have much trouble with dreaming about things I don't want to dream about. I've even been told (in a dream) "You can't do that." and responded with "This is my dream. I can do anything I want".

Helly, I asked in another post about dreaming, but I will ask again because I really want to know. HOW do you do this? I have heard of people being able to do this, but I have almost no control of my dreams. On occasion I can wake myself up, other times I can go right back to a good dream if I wake to early. I would love to know how to practice "lucid" dreaming. The way I dream now is like being on a runaway train....lol....I never know where it is going!

Rather than write a whole book, I'm going to post a very useful site that explains what lucid dreaming is, and techniques to train yourself on how to do it. But keep in mind that it's not something I do every night, all night long. It's just something I've learned to use so I don't have to dream about things I don't want to, or a way to control nightmares.

Dreamviews is the largest Lucid Dreaming Community and Resource on the web. All about lucid dreaming, controlling dreams, sleep stages, dream signs, dream interpretation and more.

If you've already experienced being able to realize you're dreaming, and wake yourself up, or waking up and going back to the same dream, you've experienced lucid dreaming. You're half way there.

Recently I dreamed I had 8 dogs to groom and only had 2 finished by 2:30 pm. We close at 6pm but I consider myself "done" by 5 pm each day. That wasn't a dream actually, it was a nightmare.

I kept getting a hundred interruptions, and something kept coming up, so here it is 2:30 pm and I've got 6 more dogs to go until 5 pm. lol, I hated that dream!

PS: A long time ago on the old boards somebody said they dreamed they were doing poodle feet on ends of the legs of a chair!!! I'll never forget that!
