  • A critter under my bed.

So here's some fun. My younger 10 Month old Brittany, Spooner, managed to run under shelves at the end of my bed, with some treasure from outside. He was snarling at the other two Britts who were anxiously wanting whatever it was. Guess in his protectiveness/possessiveness he let it go. Yep, it appeared it was a live treasure. Sigh. He was frantically trying to get it back, but my under bed area is full of stuff. So off we hike. Come back from hikes and walks and I hear something scratching on the wall under the bed. Well it's just a darn good thing that I'm staying at my boyfriends house tonight anyway. Mole or gopher likely, for a rat or mouse would have hightailed it out of that area by now. I hope by tomorrow night the "minor problem" is solved.

I know you cat owners are used to such. Been a while since I've had cats because I live in Coyote country.
Money will buy you a pretty good dog but it won't buy the wag of it's tail.

Yeah, I don't want the marrying stuff

Been there, done that. I have a permanent B/F for over 11 years now. Found him via Ham Radio. He's a techie. Solid, stable. I do enjoy Amateur Radio for itself, but there is nothing like enjoying a more common to men's hobby to meet the guys. No cost unlike with QVC.

I think my kitty Amy as found that the most entertainment she gets is not from catching critters, but from catching live critters and releasing them in the house so she can watch her humans find them! Stupid cat...lol...I know she does it on purpose (releases them live) because she is quite the huntress. She has realeased squirrls, chipmunks, moles, mice, birds and a SNAKE!! Believe it or not most of them are not injured (badly) and get set free to the great outdoors. All the while Amy is crouched in some spot w/her tail switching and a kitty smile watching her silly humans running from room to room trying to catch this poor critter in our clumsey and entertaining way!! I can just feel her laughing at our ineptness!! lol

Good news, except for the mole

When I returned the pooches let me know where they'd left the poor dead mole. But I was glad to know it was not going to be crawling around under my bed tonight. May he or she rest in peace.

That is funny Sheilagroomer, sort of. I knew you kitty people would know where of I speak. I think they can get to enjoy "playing" later. I have not found out, but tried to, if wild Big Cats ever just play with their catches. Or is it because our pet kitties are well fed?

Yes they are, for hanging stuff high on the wall, getting stuff off shelves and killing spiders...can't think of what else. hehe

Very Cute, I have a husband that all the elderly neighbor ladies borrow all the time to change light bulbsw etc. He is starting to cringe when he looks at caller ID. I just keep telling him he makes their days. They are all in their 80's and can't do it them selves.

I read somewhere that in the domestication process, pet dogs and cats were kinda reverted to a permanent juvenile stage. If you watch YOUNG (juvenile) big cats and wild canids, they pounce and play with their "prey" in order to develop the hunting skills they'll need as adults. Occasionally they accidently kill their "toys".... Some develop these play activities into real hunting/killing skills.

my cats think its funny too,to release there live prey in the house, once they even caught a hummingbird,i dont know how,but i love hummingbirds they are beautiful,i did manage to save this little bird, took him back outside and he was able to fly away,i went back in and yelled at them i said dont catch any more cute critters, but they cant go outside anymore,to many coyotes, but last winter we had a mouse in the kitchen do you think they would catch it,nope,i had to go buy a humane mouse trap and drove the darned thing way far from my house to release it
