  • Phone message....

Well now that I have my own place I have to put the recording on my voicemail. I hate doing it because I sound like I'm 10 years old, lol. Right now I have it like this
"Hello, and thank you for calling Bark N' Bubbles", I currently am unable to answer the phone right now, but if you leave your name, number and any questions you might have, I'll be happy to get back to you as soon as possible, thank you, bye."

I wanted something cutesi in there but don't know what to say. I was also thinking of adding something like I expect to open the second week of Feb. and will be happy to book you for that time, or something......

Keep it professional. I myself hate getting a long recording when I call someone.

    Mine says-
"Hi, you have reached Angie's Pet grooming and also the home of the Edgrens. We cant take your call right now but if you leave your name and phone # we will get back to you as soon as we can."

I dont have a seperate shop phone. Wish I did. Sometimes people call me at dinner time and right before bed time to make an appt. I keep bugging hubby for a new line. Maybe someday.

Well, the date idea might be good, but on the other hand, it might be good to leave it out, call the people back ASAP and book an appointment.

        Sounds nice!

I think that your message sounds really nice. The only thing that I would change is saying that I can't answer the phone right now. I feel like that's a given if the answering machine has picked up. I might instead say "Hello and thank you for calling BarkNBubbles. I'm busy pampering my clients pets.."

Also I have gotten clients in the past who leave extremely long messages which is hard for me to listen through because I am usually very busy. I probably would encourage them to leave a very brief message and remind them to speak slowly and clearly when leaving their phone number. It's really hard to have to replay a message several times when you're swamped just to get the number right. The trials and tribulations of being owner, receptionist, groomer etc and wearing all the hats.

Anyway, I think that your message is very nice! Congratulations on getting your own place!

          toomuchfunbnme,
I like that - busy pamepering my clients pets. I may have to change my message now!

Mine says "Hi, thank you for calling The Pet Parlour. We can't come to the phone right now, but if you leave a message after the tone, we'll return your call at our earliest convenience, thank you".

I hate making machine messages too. It usually takes a dozen tries before I get something that doesn't sound really bad. Doesn't help that my family's normally hanging around laughing at my attempts.

I have my business hours on my recording and because I also have a kennel I add my cell# for boarding Emergency's. Sometime I think I need to define what an Emergency is though...lol
Your recording sounds good to me though. Professional and to the point. IMO I would stay away from "cutsie" messages. I think a lot of people would think it not professional.

Grinch, aren't you getting excited!! I have a barking dog treat jar, and used that when I did my message."Bark, Bark, Bark. Hi, this is Karla. Thank-you for calling The K-9 Cottage. I can't get to the phone right now, but if you leave your name and number, I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Give your dog a hug, and have a great day!" I think using my name personalizes it a little, and lots of people have said that they DID hug their dog!

Because I'm mobile and move around alot. I put on the message what time I usually return calls. Sometimes I don't get time to return calls until after 5 pm and I was getting work numbers so I couldn't get them. I ask them to leave a number I can call during the hours of 5 - 8 that way I get them at home.

Maybe you should throw a little slogan in such As....Thank you for calling Bark N' Bubbles where we have warm hearts for cold noses....then go on to state the usual. I just think it sounds cute. Try to use your most profesional voice so it's heard clearly. Just a thought.
