  • Am I the only one with no clothes???

How sad am I? I was looking in my closet to try and find something to wear to listen to my husband band playing at a nearby club. I realized that all I have are 3 pairs of jeans, 3 sweaters, 4 long sleeved shirts and tons of t-shirts (that I wear under my smocks). I have no skirts, dresses, nylons, etc. and I think its because I am a groomer!

My husband and I lost all of our clothes in the fire. Of course we got money from insurance. Plenty to replace what we lost, but I guess I just haven't felt the need to go out and buy new things. I wear the same type of outfits every day for grooming, and jeans on the other days.

I remember the days when I worked at a place where I had to dress up every day. I had so many dresses, skirts, and shoes, did my nails, wore makeup everyday, and really styled my hair.

I feel like my family should write into a talk show and ask to give me a makeover. lol!

I was feeling the same way, I was sick of the ponytail I wore everyday, a drawer full of t-shirts, and barely any going out clothes. So last Feb, on Valentines day I decided to show myself a little love, and I cut all me hair off to a cute little flippy do. And bought a cute crocheted skirt and $75 shirt it hurt to spend that on a shirt but it was so worth it. I treat it like porcelain lol. I am usually a Walmart kinda girl, but I made the choice to start buying good clothes and threw out 75% of my t-shirts, Cleaned out my closet. and slowly have been filling it back up lol.

I am sooo glad not to be alone. I don't like dress up and am uncomfortable doing so, but when I have to I tend to have a problem. I live in my jeans. I just got a new pair, number 3, about a week ago.

I have two closets filled with clothes from my "Corporate America" days and I haven't worn any of them in over a year. I may just give them all to Goodwill but I keep hoping I might have a life someday and actual wear some of them. LOL.

              Thought it was just me

I have 4 pairs of jeans, one of which is my keep it under control jeans. If they start to get too tight, I back off the chocolate.
Most of my closet is taken up with groomiing clothes.
Don't know what I'd do if I had to go somewhere nice.
By the way,,,my jeans are Levi Strauss and Chics.
              No hip huggers for me.

Shoot, I got married and "voila," my closet started filling up. I'm NOT kidding. My mother-in-law always buys me stuff, she even bought me a cute orange shirt (long sleeved) for halloween that has black pumpkins on it, she buys me shoes, she buys me cute stuff that always seems to fit. She bought me a down coat with racoon fur-lined hood, etc...

My brother-in-law says the same thing---since he married into this family, he has somehow gotten a new wardrobe. It does feel nice to wear nice clothes, I like to look nice but being COMFORTABLE is very important to me. Pantyhose are "against" the rules (my comfort rules!), so are short skirts---I have to be able to sit comfortable, move freely, nothing restrictive at all.

Even after all this, I too sometimes feel like I have "nothing" to wear, lol.

Oh, do I know what you mean. Don't go out much, so don't really have anything decent anymore. Used to be a sharp dresser too. Jeans and sweatshirts and t-shirts, oh, my! Just spent $175 on my Duo Thins, but can't seem to part with the $$ to be well dressed. Am so envious of my well tailored clients. Oh, and all the dresses, skirts I have all have pockets for the dog shows of course!
Old groomers never die, they just go at a slower clip.

                  Groom on!!!

Every year (fall or spring, sometimes both) I go through my t-shirts and try to get rid of at least a few. I try to only keep the number that a) will fit in one half of my drawer, and b) is just over the number of shirts I do in a load, in case I get behind in my laundry. I use the nylon sporty pants so the hair doesn't stick to them. I haven't worn jeans in I don't know HOW many years (too restricting, too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter). The only reason I have ANY decent clothing is for the swing dancing I do a few nights a week. I keep telling myself I need to get more nice stuff for whatever reason. Coworkers are always shocked to see me in nice stuff. (Short hair and no make-up, so it's all in the clothing change).

Being a farmers wife, we dont get dressed up much LOL. I do have nice clothes for church, but dont do panty hose. I feel more comfortable in pants or jeans.
I always say "I have a closet full of nothing to wear"

                        Too Funny!

That's so funny! I also worked in corporate as well as owning my own businesses so I have a pretty full wardrobe selection. Even so, now that I am focusing on my grooming, I usually wear the usual jeans and tops anyway. Someone needs to invent a line of clothing for groomers that that is appropriate for after hours and is comfy. Ha Ha.

What you need to do as a pick me up is to set a date to go shopping and maybe get your nails and hair done (in other words have a little make-over). Maybe wait till Spring and if you need to start to do a little exercise regimine now to get rid of the winter excess (if you have winter excess...lol). Then when the weather gets warmer you can go on a shopping spree get some cute summer clothes in a smaller size (which always feels good to women, admit it!) and just have a good ole time! Oooooh that sounds like fun, call me and I will go w/you. Gotta go and do some tummy crunches right now....lol

I know how you guys feel. I do not have many nice clothes either. Mostly jeans and t-shirts. I am most comfortable in them anyway. My father told me one day that it would not hurt if I dressed up once in awhile. lol Who am I going to impress, the dogs. His wife even gave me make-up for Christmas. Do you think she is trying to give me a hint. lol
