  • Hi From Arkansas

My name is Leslie. I'm 42 years old and have four daughters and one husband (#2). I own a shop in a small town in NW AR. I've been open for a year.

I learned to groom almost 25 years ago. I left grooming after about 8 years. I spent the past 10 years in a corporate management position that I soom realized that I hated. I finally quit and here I am.

Things have changed a lot in the grooming industry since I left. I came here hoping to learn some of what I've missed out on. I look forward to talking with all of you.

    Leslie.

Welcome Leslie!! Glad you came back to grooming, if you look at the different posts you will see that a lot of us are grooming for a second career or like you came back after leaving. I left briefly to go to business school about 16 yrs ago, but I came back shortly to my "real life" soon after. You will learn sooooooo much on this board. I know I did. You and I learned to groom around the same time. I have been doing this for almost 22 yrs now (YIKES!). Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and welcome!

I live in Bentonville but my shop is in Gravette. We only got rain in Bentonville but Gravette was hit hard. I just learned a little while ago that the power is back on on Main St. (where my shop is) but most people are still out. Could be up to a week before everyone is back on.

I'll be back in the shop tomorrow.

              Welcome!

Welcome fifi/Leslie, I have a similar story to yours. I had planned to be a groomer, but then got involved in a couple other careers including corporate management positions and owning businesses in other fields. Have you found that your business experience is a big advantage in your grooming career? I've stayed in touch with the grooming industry, but I'm just officially switching my career to grooming. I'm finding that my business experience has been really helpful in my switch to the grooming business. This is a great place to catch up on what's going on in the grooming industry and meet lots of nice people.
