HI my name is Pat I am from South Carolina.I live in a small city and I'd like to get to knoww other groomers I have been grooming for almost ten years and the first three years were with other groomers since then it has been mostly by myself.The groomers in my area either see you as a threat or they just aren't friendly or they are honestly just plain crazy.I want to get to know other people who are really serious about this and who I can communicate with.I love this site

Hi Pat. I am brand new to both the message board and the dog grooming business. I live on the south fork of Long Island, NY in a resort community. I also was so impressed with the knowledge and communication on this site. I love it!

Hi Mint, welcome! I am a SC person too!! Hope I am not one of the unfriendly or crazy groomers you have met....lol.... Well, crazy maybe but I don't think many people would accuse me of being unfriendly. What part of SC are you from? I am here in Pendleton which is between Anderson and Clemson. You will probably be hearing from Patti soon who is another friendly SC groomer!!! Look forward to chatting w/you on the board!

Hi Pat,

Sorry to hear the other groomers around see you as a threat. I'm very lucky here in San Diego, as soon as I introduced myself someone contacted me from around here, theres a group of mobile groomers that meet every so often and I've been invited to the next meeting.
Welcome to the board, you wont find any of that here, everyone is so friendly and helpful.

Welcome! Everyone here is friendly. As far as the groomers in your area being just plain crazy...I think we are all a little loopy in our own special way! Not everyone has what it takes to be a groomer!!!

Hi Pat from South Caroline. This is Pat from New Jersey. I can kinda agree with you about some other groomers. I've had to deal with some "special" people in my shop too. But most of the groomers I talk with are great people. I can sympathize with you though, I was working with a new groomer who tried to slit her wrists with her scissors! in the middle of the shop! what a scene that was!

Welcome to the forum Pat, This is a great place to get lots of excellent grooming advice and ideas. I wouldn't feel too bad about the other groomers in your area not being friendly. I've known a couple people similar to those you've described when I owned a business in a different industry. They would actually come into my business as clients and try to talk my employees into working for them. Ha Ha. I never really worried much about them. Luckily, I'm really fortunate to have several great grooming friends who are really nice. You should be able to find lots of support and meet lots of friendly groomers here.
