  • Newbie Here!

I'm new to posting to the board. I've lurked around for far too long!
I own two grooming salons, and two off size mini poodles. Hopefully I'll have alot to contribute...but even more to learn from others! Look forward to taking part here and getting to know you all!

Welcome, and like plushpuppy has already said "This is a great Place to spend time" it sure is.
I didn't think I could ever get addicted to this board, but I have.

Minky....I love love love the poodies too!
My two are pictured in my profile. Sergie is the little guy in the back, Monet is the girlie in front. She is also the soapy girl set as my avatar. They are both "throw-away" dogs...meaning them unwanted poochies. These days we can't live without one another...they are with me 24/7!

Know what would be a cool addition here on the board? If we could have individual image galleries...maybe a limit on how many photos we could have within...but then we could show off our babies or brags.

I was just wondering about that... How addictive is it? and what happened to spell check from the last board. WELCOME ALL...everyone is so nice. Soon I'll also learn how to use this..

ok, so kind of off topic, but I am starting to like poodles myself (u all must be rubbing off on me, hehe) but are they ok with kids and do they bark constantly? I have a cocker spaniel, who we all adore, but I think he needs a friend, lol. And hello to you by the way!!!

                          Howdy No-N-Me!

That is really wonderful that you own two groom shops! I'm sure that it keeps you really busy. Do you mind if I ask how long you've been grooming? That is a really great accomplishment. I'm looking forward to reading your posts and learning from you!

I always hate being asked how long I've been grooming...but...4.5 years.
I had been in management for years, decided I needed a career change. I didn't pick grooming, it picked me. I'll leave it at that for now...don't want to write a book here. 4 months into grooming I pushed myself to compete locally with a standard poodle....I can say now "boy did I bite off way more than I could chew". The experience was awesome though! I did it again the following year. Left it alone for two years, and this year am planning on doing what I can competition wise.

I have just pushed myself to ask questions, take advice, try new things, find what works for me, and run with it!! Wearing a smile, and having enthusiasm helps immensely.

I bought out the first location, it had been established 8 years, in 2004. The first year was a nightmare, as with any business. I just opened the 2nd location Dec 2nd, 2006. I have two others within my 1st store...1 ft, 1 pt. I work 8:30-1 there, then go to the other store from 1:30 til the dogs go home usually 7pm.

It's nutz!! I'd have it no other way!!
