  • My Friends Think I May Be Crazy...

    Hello All,

I have been reading the forums..looking for the kinds of experiences as groomers you have had. Interesting isn't it, that although there are sometimes BAD days, most still seem to enjoy the profession. I am about to begin groom school (finally, after years working with animals in different capacities ( vet assistant, shelter employee, even rescuing some) , and leave behind my current job in sales, (whew, !!!!) to do what I most love. It started with the love of a German Shepherd, that my father was keeping for my uncle. As a toddler, looking into those soulful eyes and stroking his glossy coat..always having him as company and protector..
I knew even then, that there was something special, and understanding, a devoted friend, in animals ( well , okay experience has taught me too, that there can be some stinkers in the bunch..lol, but those that are loyal examples, really leave a paw print on your soul.)

      That was sweet

Its good that you feel that way about you'r four legged friends. Always keep that feeling even when you get this nasty little anckle biter trying to take you finger off.(hehehe) Good luck in school, you will love it.

        Couldn't have said it better.

I still love what I do, even with the nasty little anckle biters!!!!

          Another GSD lover!!

Welcome! I think you will do very well as a groomer, you sound like you really value and appreciate animals. :-) Also, I have to say that you have wonderful taste in dogs, as I have a small female GSD that I love very much! I also learned to love and appreciate animals when I was very young... I grew up with a wonderful GSD that loved and protected me... she was my special girl. They are definitely my favorite breed, strong, loyal, and intelligent. Best of luck with grooming school!

you will love your job! its the hardest job you will ever love, as I always say!
funny, the best dog I've ever had was a GSD! he was my protection dog that I trained. sadly, I sold him when I got married and he went on to be a Texas k9 cop. it didn't work out for him though, he hated men! (he was a good judge of character too lol) he was sold to a dr. in penns to run his estate..of which Im sure he was very good at!
