  • Finally introducing myself

I've been lurking around and reading posts for a about a year now so I figure I should go ahead and introduce myself . Better late then never right?

I've always known that the only job for me would have to be with animals. Before grooming I was an assistant manager at one on the local shelters. I love shelter work and hope to stay involved but in this area it is nearly impossible to make a living there and it becomes very emotionally draining.

I had thought about grooming before but I am really hard on myself and a big perfectionist so I had convinced myself that I wouldn't be good enough. My boss was looking for a groomer when she saw my resume. She was impressed enough with my interview that she offered to hire me on as a bather and train me in grooming. I've been there about 8 months now and I'm now up to doing a few dogs on my own. Mostly easy breeds like Shih-Tzus and Goldens but I'm getting there.

Right now I don't have any dogs personally since we rent but are looking to buy a house within the next year and a dog within 2 years. We also have an active 2yr old boy who eats up most of my spare time lol.

Jeez, ya held out long enough! (OK, so which posted picture was it that you could no longer bear NOT being able to see? )

Welcome to this place, lots of great info, hints, tips etc. (than there's my posts...but we won't go there just yet.... )

Sounds like you've found the perfect job for yourself, and a great boss, good luck!
Often it's not what you say, but how you say it.

Hi & welcome. Sounds like you are on the right track. Back when I was in school, I was always the goofy one who rasied her hand and offered to to the golden. I love grooming Goldens. Anyhoo, again, Welcome!
