  • Just wanted to say hello

Hello everyone, just wanted to introduce myself..I have been grooming for a year now and just getting ready to go back to work after the birth of my daughter. I am the proud owner of a boston terrier and miniature schnauzer who are my "boys" and I don't know what I would do without them. I love reading the posts here and love that everyone is so willing to help each other out. I have always wanted to be a groomer but because it was not the ideal job that my parents wanted when I got out of school I chose their ideal career path for me and ended up with a career that I didn't enjoy for 8 years! I finally decided enough was enough and I needed to do what I wanted with my own life, after all I was 26 years old! I did train at one of the petsomethings and also completed a home study course and now I am just amazed at what the corporate grooming salons do not teach their groomers..I have learned so much more from just reading posts on this website and now I just read and read and try to learn new things everyday. I will also be relocating to Nashville, TN mid July as my husband is in the USCG so if there is anyone from that area I would love to hear from you.

Hello, and congrats on your baby girl. What's her name? I had a baby girl 6 mo ago. I'm loving it!!! Careful, sometimes I'm so involved with this board, my baby is sitting on my lap very frustrated, lol. There's not enough hours in the day!

          Just wanted to say hello

I have been a pet sitter longer than a groomer. I worked in a shop for a while and it seemed natural to do grooming for the dogs I sat for and get them all clean for when their parents came home. I left that job and now do grooming in the owners homes. I want to expand and need help figuring out how I could do that. Dragging my stuff in and out of the houses isn't easy. I seen that some of you do gooming this way. For now it is just when the owners are away so I can take my time. I don't have very much equippment yet or know much about the best things to buy. There is so much to learn it scares me a little. I know there is a lot of good information here. I have a portable table, clippers, small dryer that looks like a diog house and a few more things of course. It takes longer to clean up than to groom the dog. Any help would be appreciated.
