Penn Foster
Hi there. I just signed up for this site and I am also new. I have been checking out all of the schools and I received a brochure from Penn Foster. They sound ok but I also would like to hear more if anyone has info on this school. I am concerned about learning online/videos or whatever. Has anyone heard of Rightlookpets.com? They offer training and a mobile unit. I am going to visit their offices soon.

Hello and welcome. Thanks for sharing the rightlookpets.com site. I had seen their trailers, but didn't know that they were offering grooming specific trailers.
There are good online courses offered on this site. I know people who have taken online grooming courses listed on this site and were very happy with them. It's a great way to learn grooming when you combine it with an apprenticeship working with an experienced groomer to get the hands on as well.
Best of luck in your new career!
Stephen Note: Very soon we are going to have LOTS of info about Right Look Pets.

Penn Foster offers many courses for many trades. How does that compare to home study courses by groomers for groomers? Just a hint that you should consider in a salon or shop etc, apprenticeship is based on learning under another groomer. Is Penn Foster a grooming business? So I don't want to totally throw out their program, I am not knocking it, but what do you think is the difference with home study programs by groomers for groomers vs. Penn Foster. Think about it.Most questions regarding GroomerTALK are answered in the Board Help Talk Forum. Thanks for coming to our community a part of PetGroomer.com https://www.petgroomer.com.

Iam really confused with oline course for dog grooming. I could see if you take a course and work at a shop as a bather while you are reading. It will help identifying breeds, equipment, how to bath ect... but If your looking at doing this and then you can go straight into grooming or opening your own shop. Thats will be just plain insane..

I am also new to the board and I am enrolled in penn fosters school for pet grooming. You get tools with this course comb, slicker brush, scissors, andis clippers. the customer service is very good, the books are very basic, but informational I have also secured an apprenticeship with a certified groomer. In the books it will tell you to visit a shop or go to your local shelter to volunteer to get hands on experience. good luck hope this helps
