  • Fresh outta school!

    Hello all!

I graduated from the CT School of Dog Grooming Dec. 1st. I just got my first full time job at a well known kennel! I will be the only groomer there and managing the whole salon my self. I know I can do it but if anyone out there has any tips for me I'd love to hear them! Thanks!

congratulations on graduating and getting a job so fast. I worked in a kennel for years and one of the things you need to do is make sure if someone else checks the dog in they get detailed instructions on how they want the dog groomed. good communication is the key and keep your grooming guide handy best of luck

think about working one day a week with an experienced groomer. the schools can only teach you the basics. good luck

Congratulations on Graduating Grooming School, you have made a great career choice. Grooming is my second career. I only wish it was my first. I feel as thou I wasted 30 years in the other career. Good luck to you, this is a great sorce of information. I worked in a Vet Clinic for my first grooming job, by myself, when I had questions I would call the school, they gave me all the info I needed. But if you can find a mentor that would be good too.
                Good Luck

                          newbie

Hi everyone my name is Becky, I am also new. I started mobile grooming fresh out of school on Jan 24th 2007, I am so glad I went mobile and can't believe how fast things are going. I'm located in Michigan. I just joined a networking group and out of the 250+ people in the group I am the only groomer, hopefully I will drum up alot of business with this group. I also did flyers and ended up with 25 dogs and 2 cats in my first two week and most of them have rebooked.I really love this site there is so much useful information.
