  • my day

well i had a pip of a day today. i was in bridgewater, ct on the top of henry sandford rd. the bottom of this road ends in lake lillianonah. well i get to the top of the hill and my cell phone chirps that i have 4 messages from hubby. cell signal is real bad and since i now had a spot of coverage and 4 messages, i pulled over to retrieve them. as i'm listening to them, my foot that is on the brake pedal goes ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR.
well, that's not good. i try it again, it goes ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR. i am on the top of a very steep hill and have no brakes.
fortunately, their was a dirt driveway leading to a horse barn a 100 ft down the road, so i coasted into the driveway and called a tow truck.
afterwards i promptly had a nervous breakdown.
i thanked hubby for being the pill he is and leaving 4 very unimportant messages on my cell.

Oh boy that is very scary! You kept your head, though! I think that you told me a story of how you tangled with that same intersection in a snow storm, too- wasn't it?! Glad that you are OK!!!

Actually, it's prolly a good thing he left those messages...otherwise you may have been 1/2 way DOWN the hill before you realized "Look Ma...NO BRAKES"! (So put the cattle prod back in it's leather sleeve!)

Just one more reason to wear a Life Jacket when you drive. Ya just never know!
Glad you are ok, except the nervous breakdown part.....

I have had that happen. The top popped off my brake fluid on one of my cars years ago. I HAVE driven with nothing but the E break. It's not ideal, but thank goodness it's there. It WILL stop your car and slow you down in an emergency, though I wouldn't want to be going down a steep hill like that trying to ride an E break! Thank goodness you are ok. Things do happen for a reason!
