"My other groomer was being an idiot!"

Had a guy call today to get his 38lbs of guess the breed (They tend to poop when you look at them funny and then pee and then have explosive diarrhea all over the walls and I've only had two super sweet ones) groomed because its been a little over six months. (Red flag #1) Calls the past groomer all sorts of names (Reg flag #2-5). Tells me his last mobile groomer is trying to raise prices after he's used her for years along with more words. (more flags). Wants it done for less than $30 (hahahaha uh huh)

Into the conversation....
me "Oh well, six months is a pretty long time and his coat must be really long"
Him " Extremely and he's dirty and it may have been longer than 6 months..Maybe a year
me "Have you brushed him and are you able to get a comb through"
Him " How much is it? and I need it today"
me "Well its $80 base and it goes up from there depending on how dirty, matted and any behavioral issues he has" "And how long ago the last grooming was"
Him "Bleep....Bleep" "What the Bleep... That's $50 more than my (Me:Mobile may I add)groomer was charging that is ridiculous" " I refused to pay it and she isn't returning my calls and being an idiot." "I don't know what's going on" "Its just a bleep'in haircut!!"
Him "But he's been fine for the groomer, they just muzzle him the whole time" " he won't let me wash him or touch his feet "
Me. "We won't have anything for you and It looks like I won't be able to help you out if your pets aggressive. I'm guessing the cost will be much much more than $80 and more likely over a $150 on the low end for any mobile groomer to try grooming him." I'm guessing all the groomers in our area wont' have anything available for you either.

Heh heh heh. Gotta love some people! Maybe they should look into getting a short haired dog with no toenails-poor dog. I every once in a while will have someone get absolutely rude about my price. Too bad for them...I don't really care. I cater to people that are willing to pay.

Mobile grooming for $30 and the guy still thinks that is too expensive? Our van doesn't leave the driveway for less than $50!

We have a clause in our pricing that says for difficult personalities , both pet and owner, there may be an additional charge. I think he would qualify for both!

My x-soninlaw is a contractor and he told me this story. He was working with a sub-trade and the guy was dealing with a client that told him over the course of the job that he wasn't doing this right and that was too much money and using swear words at him all the time. The client had fired and changed people over and over again, real abrasive person. The sub-trade guy had enough, had words with the client, made up his bill, $ for this and $ for that and $75.00 for 3 Stupids at the end of the list. The client realized that he'd been a jerk(that doesn't happen often) and paid it to him.

I've actually got my "not accepting new clients" voice mail on right now, so, maybe he already tried me.

I quoted a guy $45 for a bulldog bath + $20 gas & my customer conveniently forgot about the gas when he paid me. It was so embarrassing to go back and ask for more money.
