  • Some Nerve people have !!

It is Thursday, about 5:30 pm…..I listen to my answering machine. I groomed this lady’s Lhasa back in November, and she didn’t want to reschedule because “this is really my daughter’s dog, not mine”. She now leaves this message: This is So-in-so and I want you to come over and groom MY pet on Sunday between 9:00 – 10:00 am. Please call to confirm the time.

I tried to call her back, to “straighten her thought process out” but her phone service says that she isn’t accepting messages at this time, and to try again later. Shall I wait and call her on Sunday at 8:50 AM and tell her I don’t groom on the weekends ?? Who in the heck grooms on Sunday mornings...is this women NUTS !!

    Happy Biting my tongue !!

Well now, you just drop everything and run right over to her house bright and early on Sunday morning to groom her dog for her! And bring her a hot cup of coffee and a blueberry muffin served on your best china too!

      NOT!!!

Oh I sure would go right over there and charge time and a half. That is what most people get for working overtime. I don't think she would like that one bit.

I'm just rolling over for two more hrs at that time

I don't even know if I'd call her back. But don't let her call wake you when you do a no show.Sundays are my day off, as are Mondays. I do allow afternoon Mondays if I missed a week day appt due to being sick or bad weather conditions. This Monday I am getting new rear tires.

Some of them can be quite nervie for sure. i had one call in Dec, left her name # and address and that she would be available on the 17th @ 2m and she would expect me at that time to do her 90# Golden. Mind you, she wasn't a client, but would be new.

I did call her back and she just couldn't understand the definition of being booked up, I don't do large breeds and the definition of NO.

I do Sunday mornings to, but I think I'm the only mobile in my area that does. And I actually try to keep it to Sunday afternoons so I can make it to church in the morning. I would call her back and just politely let her know when my next opening was.

Sounds like she need a reality check instead of another "service person" kissing her hiney. If you don't work Sundays then end of story. Maybe try one more time to see if she is "accepting messages" and if it's a no go, forget it? That's what I would do. Who knows, maybe she will snap to and end up to be one of your best customers, after boundaries are established. Keep us posted!

I groom on Sunday mornings, also, but I would drop her a note, saying that you don't. That your first opening is ....... and would she like that one.

I will groom Sundays after 1PM so I have time to go to church & eat lunch, but, I charge an additional 50% "Sunday Fee". Most of my Sundays are wide open.

Did she have a "tone"? Like she just expected you to hop to it? I know you can't really read tone well in written form. I have a lot of clients leave messages saying "I'd like to book on such and such a date at such and such a time if you have it open" kind of thing all the time. Luckily, they all understand that it may very well not be possible and we look into when the next opening is. Or emails, especially if they are sending it via blackberry, it's typically very short and to the point. What she said in and of itself wouldn't bother me, it would be how she said it.

I don't do weekends. Period. End of story. But, my situation is sort of unique since I on a military installation and I know it's not an issue for people to bring their dog to me during lunch and pick up after work. I had a Marine the other day asking me to make an exception for him and open up on Saturday mornings. I politely explained that I work out of my home. He knew this as he was standing in my grooming area. I told him that my husband is also in the military and he works hard all week long. His days off are on Saturday and Sunday. If I accept dogs on the weekend it cuts into his time off as well as my family time. So, no, it's not going to happen. Ever. After I explained it he understood.

I have had people send me email messages requesting specific dates and times. Most of the time I am scheduled to groom another dog at that time. So, I offer them an alternative date and time. Usually works out okay. I would just call this person back and let them know what dates you have open....take it or leave it!
                              Good Luck!
