  • I killed another one!

In less than two years I am now on my 4th cell phone. Mine died Friday night, had been working fine, had it on the counter well away from the tub, ftalkde on it while grooming, finished the dog, cleaned up, stuffed the phone in my pocket and as I am returning the dog to the owner feel something very hot in my pants pocket. Pull it out and the phone is getting hotter and hotter. I thought it might be moisture so I turned it off, pulled it apart and let it dry out for a day. It seemed to be coming back to life, then I had the bright idea of using the dash heater to help it dry out better. Note to everyone, don't try to use the dash heater to dry out a cell phone. It was turning on and bringing up the welcome page, after that attempt it was completely dead. Hated that phone anyway, so went to get another one. The Tmobile guy told me it would be cheaper to just go to Best Buy and get a no-contract phone and stick my sim card in it. So that's what I did. Got a $20 phone and it works fine. I don't do anything but make calls with it. Dont really know how to text, don't use it for internet or anything, so we'll see how long this phone lasts. Yeah the T-mobile guy told me I need to keep my phones away from water LOL. I mean, I don't put them by the tub (anymore LOL) but it gets humid in there. So the death total is now at 3
    1. death at the mouth of Standard poodle.
    2. death by boiling
    3. death by moisture

I have to say, I had dropped this last phone in the tub about 5 times and it ALWAYS came back so I think had I not tried the dash heater trick it would probably still be kicking. Oh well.

I liked the idea that it was practically indestructible when I saw it...but it's HUGE, lol. I like my teeny tiny phone

I am very proud to say that I have had my cell-u-r-not-light phone for TEN years.

It's completely portable. If I want to take it anywhere, all I have to do is get a friend help me load it on a dolly, wheel it out the door, transfer it to a hand-truck, go down the steps, and with the assistance of a pulley system I've rigged...hoist it up into the bed of my pick-up.

Nopey...they sure don't make them like they used to. Why, I'll bet this behemoth lasts another 10 years!

You should have purchased one like mine MyLady...it's "weigh" too big to meet the misfortunes of your poor lil cells.

My husband kills phones like that... Leaves them for the dogs, and kids to get, all that good stuff. So after the last one I told him he had to go get a pay-as-you-go and stick his sim card in it (T-Mobile also) Well it has lasted about a month and one day you just couldn't hear on it anymore. He swears he didn't do anything to it, and has been very careful. I believe him, has always sets it up high when at home....
So good luck with that phone. let me know how long it lasts you, and then maybe I'll know if Eric did anything to his LOL

            Neat trick if it works

I heard the other day that if your phone is dropped in water (not boiling, lol) or gets wet, you can put it in a container of uncooked rice. Just make sure the phone is covered by the rice for 24 or 48 (don't remember which) and supposedly the rice takes out the moisture. Never needed to try it, but it couldn't hurt.

My sister has revivied her phone this way twice, still works great. I tried it when I flushed mine half down the toilet, didn't work, but it was in there for awhile while I tried to fish it out.
Thats OK I didn't need to put it back by my face again anyway, damn sh***y phone.

I used to go through phones like crazy. The last one that I had I took w/me to the AT&T store and the salesgirl called all the other employees over so they could also get a good laugh at the condition of my phone. She recommended the Samsung Navigator and said it is nearly indestructable. It also has a GPS so I can find my way home.....lol

I have had it now for almost a year and so far it is surviving me. I have dropped it in the tub w/water several times, it has gone swimming in mud puddles and the mop bucket and I have also run it over w/my car........twice. Not to mention the many times it has been dropped on concrete.

My husband says I should be paid to put these "indestructable" things through their paces before they go on the market. If they can survive me they can survive anything.

Unfortunately the bluetooth that I got at the same time didnt learn how to swim.
