  • What's mobile like in PA?

I fell in love with Hershey PA at my first groom expo and have had many thought of moving there. My concern is it seems so spread out. one of the things I love about it, but not so great for mobile. I actually bought my unit in Harrisburg LOL so I know mobile can work there, I'm just wondering what the economy is like, cost of living, you know the usual when you're thinking of moving somewhere. I wouldn't be moving for at least a few years so it's not like I don't have the time to research it. Are there any laws governing mobile units I should be aware of? I have no idea what the average costs are for grooming in the area so I'll have to check out the PG survey to get an idea.
Also, not grooming related, but I have been told PA is very strict when it comes to speeding. I.E. two miles over the limit can get you a ticket. Here in NY my husband has already wracked up enough tickets for one thing or another. I swear there is some invisible sign on his car that says "pull me over and find something to ticket me for". he's had a ticket for driving in the passing lane too long, changing lanes without signaling, not wearing a seatbelt, having a cracked tail light (even though it passed inspection a week previously with the cracked light), etc. I don't know if I want to move someplace that might be even more strict about traffic laws as he tends to be a bit of a lead foot as well. Around here as long as you stay within 5 miles of the speed limit no one bothers you, and many times will let you get away with 10 miles over. Not that I drive that way.
He really wants to move back to Ohoi to the Columbus area. I was very unhappy living in Ohio but we were in NW Ohio and he says Columbus is different. Not quite as conservative. IDK, I do know he's miserable in NY and I think moving a bit further away from my family might be the healthiest choice I could make.
So info on either area would be appreciated.

I live between Cleveland and Akron, Ohio and know that Columbus is quite different than any other part of Ohio. I have visited there a few times. I like Columbus - it is busy and definitely not as conservative as the NW part of Ohio. Remember, Ohio State University is there so lots of college kids. The outlying suburbs seem to be pretty nice and a bit upscale. I have never ever heard of getting a ticket for driving in the passing lane too long - that is insane!

Can't give you any info on PA. Good luck in where ever you decide to move.

Thanks, the whole reason hubby wants to move there is so he can go see games in the horseshoe. HUGE Buckeye fan. My cousin is attending classes there now so he could get in to the games if he wanted. of course by the time we do move he'll probably have graduated.

The way the economy seems to be heading, by the time you move the Buckeyes will be in bankruptcy & the Horseshoe will be in foreclosure....

Now THERE's a happy happy dose o' sunshine for ya first thing in the morniing! I haven't consumed quite enough coffee yet to keep the cynic beast which lives within at bay.

Seriously, move someplace warm! (not here, its cold here right now). I bet there aren't many mobile groomers in Key West....wink, nudge

My thoughts exactly Puppy, why move somewhere that gets snow and cold, it is what I am going to move away from. I can't imagine moving because of a football team! Our first big snow of the season is here now, and all I want to do is jump in the mobile and drive south!

Hmmm, so moving to Ohio I'll be an even worse football widow surrounded by other crazy Buckeye fans or move to PA and get fat. Maybe I should think of another option LOL.

I swear the chocolate tasted better in Hershey too. Now ya got me thinking about it, there is 10 inches of snow on the ground and more falling and I can't go buy any chocolate! Hmm, could make a chocolate cake with some HERSHEYS CoCoa!

A couple years ago I lived within 2-3(traffic) hours of PA and visited maybe once a week. I personally wouldn't do mobile there because of Steep driveways, long winding driveways and super dense city parking(Depending on which area) The area is beautiful, you will have nice summers but it is pretty chilly even in the spring time. It also snows quite a bit! A friend of mine currently still lives there but the economy is tanked! No one is really spending any money and lots of businesses are struggling.

Ask the mobiles around Chester County, like cockerpoodledoo. They're super busy.
