Do you guys know if advantix and sentinal can be used together? Mollie is on sentinal because frontline made her itch, but I found a flea on her before (just one thank goodness) and I see her itch all the time but I can't find ANY fleas. I am a flea-phobic, though, I check her over after every potty walk, but I worry they're still hiding somewhere on her. I'm itchy thinking about it...Ew!

We have had a TON of customers come in with fleas and they all tell us they are using Frontline religiously. I talked with a lot of other groomers at the Atlanta Pet Fair, and a lot of the ones living in the Southeastern US are having problems with Frontline not working. I use K9 Advantix on my own dog, and never see fleas.

You are right about the 10 min soak, but we were having small faith problems with the little one that got away! We put the soap on dry use toothbrushes etc. to get it in very well. I used to use bark to basics citrus, and a couple of others, which seemed to be loosing effectiveness. They did all kill fleas with a 10 min soak, but every now and then I would see the lone survivor. A big problem for us since I am vigilant about exterminating the shop, and it caused added baths etc. We are in the south east. We also have seen problems with frontline here!! Big ones. it is like the fleas laugh at it!!!

Amatriz for ticks ...best thing to kill spiders! (paralizes mouth parts, tick starves)
avalible in 2 forms, a dip from the vet or the collars...Tick Arrest, or the one from the vet. Yes, they really work
Fleas are insects...and anything that penetrates will kill a tick. Even Avon Castille soap...(super gentle stuff huh?) Borax sweapt around the floors or sprinkled on the carpet and vacuumed will leave enough risidual to dry a flea out...orange peeling boiled in a quart of water, left to cool, strained and put in a spray bottle...d-limonene...home made...lavender flowers, same thing, boiled in water, left to cool, strain, use as a rinse or spray to repel.
Capstar would be a line of quick kill, so I have been told, and will use when I move into flea country. My shampoo of choice...Itchy Dog from Bobbi Panter...has both tee-tree and lavender...
So I guess it just depends on what you like for yourself, so many things will do the job of killing fleas, the next question should be what side affect do you want to deal with...for me...I like to elimanate the itchy skin left behind after the flea. For me it's not my job to irradicate the problem, that's the owners job, I simply treat the result of what the owner has or has not done.
