  • 6 dog appt no showed...

This has never happened before with multiple pets, but I have learned my lesson! New client, and I called her last night to remind her, too! I waited 15 mins and called the home and cell #s, no answer. I lost a big chunk of $$, but, I was having such a tough week, it was a blessing too. I am home early and doing much needed housework and spending some one on one time with my doggie! From now on, I will make multi-pet homes schedule in at least 2 appts. I did not charge her a fee, as I usually give everyone a second chance first. Just thought I would share...bum.

I know how you feel. I have a 12 dog home that I do. I spend the entire day there. I was really counting on the money right before xmas and I called her the night before to remind her and she said she had to reschedule. I just saw her last weekend and she came up and hugged me and said she was going to call me soon as snow melts. Well, it is melted and gone.
If your dog is fat, you are not getting enough exercise!

I hope you are not going to give this six dog no show a second chance? Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.
I don't give second chances on no shows (first groom) unless they call asap and explain some good reason. I have had some no shows in the past and when they called back it was a few weeks later. I just tell them I am completely booked and no I cannot refer them to any groomer be it mobile or shop.

when i first started my mobile bus i used to get calls like that all the time i guess they thought i was stupid i once had a lady call with 9 cats i called her back after talking to her and it was a wrong phone#,then every so often i would get calls like that what i figured was this, that it was another groomer just being jelous and very mean, maybe it was'nt but thats how i felt and i kind of know who it was; now that they are mobile i bet they woul'nt like to played with but anyways i dont like to waste my time like that all i think is that what goes around comes around.

Is It Az Clients, Or Am I Biased?

I am sorry that happened to you! Gee, you could have groomed halle for me. I was home around 2;30. I still have to groom Halle before rthe fair tomorrow. I fell asleep watching my taped Y&R.I honestly think Az peopkle are more inconsiderate. You can't charge, cuz they will ignore the bill. It isn't worth taking to court to prove. They woud say they never committed. But, I would keep the name handy and NEVER speak to them again or schedule with them.,They don't go to the office and have the doors locked w a note saying. No work, no pay today....cuz boss is inconsiderate. If everyone did that, we would be out oi business fast. TG for the good guys. I don't think we will have rain. Max @ ten, home Halle, and I will see ya there.Hey, guys, two mebers here are meeting in person tomorrow! Cool!~Because she Pm me to tell me about the pet fair.

Ya Know, It might be another groomer...

I never thoght of that. Maybe a jealous new mobile? Mostly, I think 6 is a lot. I had a call for 5-6 cockers. I saw the big matted dogs thru gate in the back yard with a swimming poiol with no water! They could have fallen in. I rang, dogs barked. I called sis and she said she bould call me back. She did and said sis was there in bathroom. For a half hr? I had just gotten directions from sis at work, saying she is waiting for me. Very weird. I was glad anyway.5-6 cockers. I was going to do three and three next week due to cost. I would rather be stood up than groom and not be paid, or a bad check....or stop pay. This way, they didn't get it for nothing.Obviously I was at the right house...the dogs were visible.Another time I watched Dr Phil and part of Oprah waiting. Said they were home, I must have been at wrong address. I can read, and their name was carved in wood above the garage, I told them. They could not drive into gargage without seeing the van...hello?Some people eh?I rang bell and knocked several differnt times in the waiting interval.Second visit, so I knew Where I was.

                I feel your pain

Im not mobile, but I had this problem. I am fairly new with limited space. I scheduled the store owner across the street from my shop. He has 3 huge american bulldogs, he made 3 appointments and never showed. so next time, yes he had the nerve, he came in and tried to book again. I said no way. not unless you pre pay. so he did. and guess what? he no showed again! oh well. Im not refunding anything! whats wrong with people?

Hi I've had some no shows recently all with ligitimate excuses. Some did not call me back.I had to call them and see if they still wanted to stay on the schedule with me all but one has called me back. They are all clients that I've been doing for about three years now like clock work. Two of them have had deaths in the family the other two went on vacation and they all said they were sorry.Becareful not to think to badly of them sometimes when life happens you don't always think of getting the dog groomed first. If a person is a complete flake thats a different story drop them.

One reason why I don't offer multiple pet discounts. In a case like yours, if they cancel or noshow and you can't refill the appts, your day is screwed! Hope you enjoyed your day anyhow.

I charge a non reundable credit card deposit for all new multiple pet households of 3 or more pets. The people who won't pay it or are offended are those who likely will no show anyway.

Now that takes care of no shows but.....

HOw? How do you get strangers who don't know you to trust you and give a credit card number? I realize hotels do it, cruises (spell) do it, because they are huge established companies with opportunities for many bookings. Or no-shows, But I think I would go a long time before anyone would agree to give me a debit or credit card over the phone, as a mobile booking. My tax man said I can't take no shows as a loss. So, the overall gas expense figures it in somewhere. Days income......too bad. Doesn't P----- take a credit card when the dog is checked in? I think they always get paid, don't they? Corporations know how to protect themselves. Mobile 1 girl business is a different animal....no pun intended.

Stephen: Have a plan ready for this. You charge for the no-show. The customer calls the C/C company and disputes the charge and issues you a chargeback on your merchant account, and those don't look good, and you are not getting paid until there is a resolution. You have to write a letter to prove the circumstances to the merchant company, copy the pet owner, call the pet owner etc. whatever it takes to corner the pet owner. You better have written proof that you had informed the public, and this pet owner, that you do charge for no shows. It happens, so be ready.

                          More trouble than it's worth.,

I would somehow feel almost dishonest charging for a "no show "by credit card. I don't do credit cards, as they are not cost effective for my small business. Guess I will keep on informing people I require 24hrs.or at least 12 advance notice of cancellatrion. If I get stood up, I just move on and make note to never groom again unless they pay $10 fee for no show first. Then, and then only after the check clears woud I take them again.I am a groomer, and not a good business woman, however, I manage to stay in business.

You know, it is Sunday and she has yet to even call me with an excuse. I am not going to be quick to judge, because I don't know the circumstances. In the case of a legit excuse, I will book again, but not all 6 at once! If I get "Oh, we forgot" I simply won't book her again. I don't like to mess with no show fees...it just seems such a pain to bother with. I would rather learn from my mistake and carry on. Thanks for letting me complain, everyone.

Paws...you are so welcome to complain. I hear you and I don't blame you. Now kick her butt to the curb. If I was you I'd be spitting nails and having a hairy canary!! I've been trained by some harda-- mobile groomers who taught me well. I know they would never, ever go back. Well, maybe I might go if the customer begged me and then paid up front. I'm too old and grouchy to deal with people like this. lol
