  • Anyone have Piercings?

I really want to get a nose piercing. I think they are very cute on girls. I was all ready to go tomorrow to get one. Do you think this will hurt my mobile grooming business? It would be a small dainty one, barely noticeable. What do you all think? Is it unprofessional?

I am probably not the go to person on what is professional, but I have no problems with piercings. Like if you pulled up to my house to groom my dog I would most likely compliment you on it.

BUT, I worry about a dog catching a toenail or something in it and pulling it out. That is the ONLY reason I don't have facial piercings. I had a friend with an eyebrow ring that got torn out in a car accident, and now he has a big honkin' scar on his face.

Nowadays nose piercings are quite common so no I don't think it will hurt anything, especially if it is a small one. Stay away from the "harder" looking jewelry for grooming (barbels or hoops and the like), stick with the studs with small fake diamonds on the end or something similar.

A former coworker (works at another grooming shop now) had one. It was small, and very unnoticeable. I doubt that any customers even realized that it was there. Heck I didn't even know it was there the first time I saw her.

Probably depends on your clientele and geography. Like, I live in a retirement town and most all my clients are over 60...it would not go over well....well, perhaps most of them couldn't even SEE it, so who knows. But, if you live in a conservative area, maybe not so much. If you live in a liberal area...no problem. I can't imagine that you would run into so many people that would have an issue with it as that it would hurt your business however. I would just be careful to think of the image I want to present and make sure I present that image. If I had a nose piercing, i would double my efforts in dressing professionally and being well kept looking. Often such piercings accompany the grunge look which may not be the best way to make an impression.

Just make sure it does not stick out inside your nose like a booger lol. I had a customer that had her nose pierced and it always looked like a booger sticking out lol.

I have an industrial bar in right ear. I have a 14g monroe/tongue/and my lip. Most of those stayed out of the way during grooming and my customers loved them for the most part. I got lots of questions. I got mine before I was a groomer, but if you are interested in getting one just make sure that you keep up the cleaning. I dont wear them now, because of the dress code. I really wanted to keep grooming after the move so I had to conform. For now.

                piercings

Ive got two earings on each ear and i wear like 3 hemp necklaces daily. Ive also got a star tattoo on my right shoulder and on hot days it is exposed partially. Ive noticed that as long as you look respectable( hair combed and dressed professional) then the type of piercings or whatnot really dont matter. I live in a pretty conservative area and I deal with quite a few elderly, being that I lived with my grandparents for a year ive realized that its all about respect. Just listening to the person and making sure you are knowledgable about what you doin. after sayin all this it really shouldnt matter if you have a piercing.

I would think long and hard about doing this. Is this something that is worth dealing with the stereotypical judgements that go with the territory? I can tell you that we would not hire someone with a nose piercing. Our clients would not be receptive to this look. I personally don't mind something that is subtle but it would not be in the best interest of our business in the area that we live in. Sad but true.

                    Ouch

They are sooo common now, I don't think anyone would even notice. I used to have my eyebrow pierced before grooming, and once I went to get my hair done. Well the lady got my hair wet and started combing the hair down all around my face and then got to the bangs, well she wasn't very careful and dragged the comb right down over my eyebrow ring, pulling it almost out of my eyebrow! It hurt sooo bad omg. After the throbbing stopped, I was ok but now that's what I think about everytime anybody mentions a piercing and the possible mishaps. Obviously you won't have to worry about a situation like that unless the dog has an eyebrow ring, lol. Just be careful it doesn't get ripped out!!!

                      I have 'em

I have a tragus piercing in one ear, which tends to be covered by my bluetooth earpiece. The other ear has a 0 guage(just under 1/2") tube in my other ear. I have only had a couple of comments about them, neither one was negative, just curious. Generally, once people see the quality of my work, they forget about the less important stuff. This is my business, I have no intention of being blatantly offensive, but I tend to do what I want. My work speaks for itself.

Where I live no one would even notice a nose piercing. If you want one go for it. If you ever change your mind you can get rid of it.

My tongue is pierced. My ears are pierced. I thought about a small stud on My brow or nose but I was afraid of dogs nails catching it as My Boxer is always bopping me in the face with his paws The ferrets are always in My face and they would try to pick it off and steal it.

I make My own beaded chocker necklaces to wear.

                              piercings

I worked at Petsmart with my nostril pierced and at Petsmart there are absolutely NO piercings allowed.

No one ever even noticed, including the customers.
