Doug...where are you?
Its a beautiful day outside today..so Doug, our resident inverter guy expert, it probably outside enjoying the heat..haha. Seriously tho, Doug is the guy to ask any questions too about your inverter. Your profile says your in Ireland too, so some things might be different. I'm sure Doug will answer you soon here. Just give him some time. You could always private message him too. I'll finally get to fix my tub soon...its been too cold. I'd rather have stainless steel tub....but i'm sorta stuck with the peeling painted plastic wonder I have now.....

TV
I have a TV/VCR combo in my van on top of my tall cabinet. I can say I've rarely used it. I only got Sesame Street and Jerry Springer on the TV. Watching a video was much better. But I don't really listen to anything when I'm grooming. Sometimes I'll turn on the radio, but it bothers some of the dogs, so I don't bother. Some of the dogs are so interested in what is going on outside the van, thru the window, they're distracted anyway.

ireland?
Isnt that all 220 v 50htz power over there? Never been ,never played with that frequency of power before.Im not sure what additional problems that would create. I'll have to think about it.I could'nt say for sure how it would effect charge time or what plug size it would take.Everything is different over there not just the language. I remember one time when i was younger I used to hang around with some irish people in little rock ark.Offered to give the one girl a ride back home becuase she had too much to drink to be driving. She slapped me.The word "ride" has a different meaning over there. I guess the real surprise would have been if she excepted under her language terms and I just dropped her off oblivious to it all.

Question: If Mobile Marty does set up an inverter, could his whole van be say like yours with 110 volt usa products and the only diffenece would be the imput to the charger? 12 volt is 12 volt? strickly use the equipment in van because of the current/voltage situation?

piffy
he could do it either way 110 or 220 I just think it will make life harder for him later if he tries to run a multi volt ac system. The parts and service alone on the different voltage items will drive him mad. Just pick one. Flip a coin.

before you jump into an inverter system, weigh the pro and cons vs a generator. i do a lot of large hairy dogs and run two dryers at the same time. my 19 amp HV and a stand dryer at about 8 amps. lights,in the winter i prefer my electric heater over the propane and in the summer my AC is running at full blast. i never have a problem with my genny. a friend with an invertor who does similar type dogs has a serious problem in the summer. she is now converting it to a generator. if you plan on doing small dogs, it really doesn't matter. and before there are posts contradicting me, i am speaking from both mine and a someone with an invertor experience. and yes, there is more maintenace needed on a generator.Certified Master Pet Tech Pet CPR, First Aid and Care Instructor

bad inverter
There will be a few that do not work right with anything new.If it was put together and the company or person followed the directions of the inverter company then they could have done a few things wrong in a sense that in this for this type of work it wont work up to par. This isnt camping. The number one F up is bad connections to the batteries. Not the kind of thing you can see like when they oxidize which is in itself is a sign of really screwing up since that is preventable most of the time.Wrong batteries ,wrong type of batteries, wrong place to keep the batteries. I feel for you freind and she should keep in touch with the company who put it together and work tward figureing out what to do to make it function better. These other people are also doing big dogs but more importantly some of them keep abuseing their systems by not charging up be it by accident or just curriosity. I had a breaker blow out some time earlier in the week that runs the charger and did'nt notice it. I went for three days at least before i noticed there was sound missing when I was plugging in at night. The charger makes a faint sound like a hum almost.I had the radio going lowd because the weather so nice and I was feeling really good even at the end of the day.So it was simply what happened as a result of all those things at once. Inspte of it all I never ran out of power, not even a dim light while running the hv with the ceramic heater as the heat source to get the hv heated up quicker.
When your friend swaps out the inverter she or he should reassemble it and look for the places where there may not be good electical contact and repair those bad points.May even need to change out the type of batteries if they are the culprit.
If the inverter is big enough then the only other problem can be the batteries or the battery wires/connectors. bad connections eat power and reduce the run time you can get out of the batteries just like a short will that is or can happen inside a battery that is damaged.Even a damaged system will work for a shorter run. When gas goes up to 3.50 this summer she might want those inverter system parts again. I dont see it hitting 4.00 @ gal, unless something really bad happens.
