Toilet types

Curiosity strikes. What's the difference between the original style toilet and the upgrade in the WnT Elite? And how would you empty both types?

I get the feeling that the RV style toilet you dump from the outside of the van into an RV dump station. The port-a-potty style I think it's a container underneath the pot that needs to be emptied.
I personally decided to splurg and get the RV style in my Elite. Makes it so much easier to dump.
