  • Got my RV today!

I finally took the plunge, and went with refitting a smaller RV to go mobile. This way, I won't have any vehicle payments when I go from my shop to mobile, and I can make everything just how I want it! Plus, I'll have a bathroom on board, which is going to make life alot easier.lol My neighbor does mechanical, paint and body work for a living, and although he hasn't done a grooming rig before, he's refit buses and things to live in. I've seen his work, it's great! Can't wait to get started- of course, the first step is to gut the interior. I can help with that part. <G> I'll post before and after pics when it's done, but it will probably be a couple of months before it's finished.

It must be so exciting to help design your own special mobile grooming unit. I look forward to seeing all of the pictures, the befores, durings, and afters.

        Congratulations!!!!

This is going to be sooo great. For some reason I didn't even think to take before and after pictures. My next one is going to be an RV. The one groomer on here that has one (RV)she did herself is soooo pretty!! Remember put two drains in the tub, one on each side. It took us 2 months (only working weekends) to get completely done, from gutting out to finish. Remember as posted previously to check on codes for your area. Good luck! keep us updated on pictures.

          Thanks!

Thanks, you guys! I'll definitely be doing the before, during, and after pics, and I'll post them. I also appreciate the reminder about having two tub drains! Any other advice or tips from those who built their own would be greatly appreciated. :-)

I've been crazy busy, but what's new?lol It's a Dodge one ton, which means any mechanic can work on it, and parts are plentiful- in other words, less expensive to fix. <G> I honestly can't remember the length...... terrible, huh? I'll try to post that tomorrow. ;-)

Have fun Kim. If I liked to drive that is what I would do. But I hate driving and love working at home

Two drains, so you don't have to worry about hills, sometimes it's impossible to park level.

                        Congradualtions on the RV!,
It was so exciting when my husband was building mine. I wished I would thought about the two drains, darn it! I'm always having to keep moving the dogs from one side to the other depending on how the trailer is sitting!

I think you need two drains for when you are parked on a hill, that way the water can drain no matter which end it is going to. I am not mobile, but I think I read that somewhere else. Please correct me if I am wrong!!
