Do any of you have problems getting your gene to start when it is 4 degrees outside?

Mine is really slow to turn over when it's that cold, but eventually it does. It likes the cold about as much as I do!

          generator

Are you priming the generator first according to the directions so it has some oil up in it when you start it?

My generator started right up this morning (3 degrees). The water intake, however....another post

mine was a rough start this morning first time. But then fine. Now if I could only fill my tanks. My inlet is frozen and even with the hair dryer I can't get water in.

                Oil/temp

There is a chart provided by the gen manufacturers which informs you what oil viscosity to use at what temperature range so it does not becme too thick when it is real cold out.Too thick no oil preasure, no preasure it will shut off after a few seconds. It also puts a big strain on the starter. You might want to consult your gen mechanic on wether or not your oil was ment for this type of cold before you eat up starters or get stranded with a gen that wont stay running.
A slow to turn over engine sounds like the oil is too thick might be reaching border line to thick for super cold.
7 weeks till St Patricks day it cant last much longer.

It sometimes takes a moment longer than usual but no problems. If ever I do have problems it's the very hot weather, and even then it's been pretty good. I should hit 3,000 on it hours tomorrow and it's been (knock wood) pretty reliable.
