  • question for all you new jersey mobilegroomers

hi... i ll be getting my wnt van soon and was wondering if i needed a special permit to carry propane in the van....

  • #2
I am not sure about this question. I don't have propane so I wouldn't know first hand. But I haven't ever heard anyone here say they needed a permit to carry propane in the van. I do know that you may have a hard time getting someone to fill the propane tank directly in the van. You may have to take the tank out, have them fill it, and put it back in. But I honestly don't know, maybe some here in NJ will answer that has propane in their van. You'll want to locate a propane place that would be willing to fill the tank directly in the van...someone reliable that wouldn't bug out over filling a tank like that. I hope someone here can help you.

make sure before they fill your tanks for the first time they purge them or you won't get much of a fill. They did not purge my tanks properly, and I ran out of propane. Went to get them filled. (2) 20 gal tanks and between the two got 4 gall in. I was like WHAT!! I won't be going to that place to get my tanks filled again. I will go elsewhere.

Will you have a generator in your van? Or do you have an inverter system?

We got our van from WNT and it already had propane on it,We drove ours accross country. As far from permits you should be fine, your propane tank is part of your vehicle, like an RV or motorhome. Good luck!

Hi, I'm not sure if wnt has inverter systems available or not, I have a Hanvey/Custom Vehicles Sprinter van. I have a generator and a small back up inverter system, that is not meant to be used as full time power. I know Hanvey offers better inverter systems now than was available when I got my van in 2002/2003. You'd have to call wnt to find out if they offer them.

hi - I have a mobile in south jersey and I use our local propane and heating company to fill up my propane since the tank doesn't come out easily. they have a spot where I can pull up.I haven't needed a permit. Kelly
