  • Can't Promise Pretty

I know many pet stylists will relate and understand.

Had one of those just yesterday. 11 year old Toy Poodle, hideous dental problems causing mouth pain, fights like a wildcat for face shaving, and would literally rather break her own legs than have them clipped. It's a stressful groom, to say the least.

When she's not matted, I can scissor her legs without objection, and I only have to worry about her face. But when she's matted--despite my best efforts to be gentle with her--she goes home limping. I can't stand it.

Yesterday I told her if she doesn't come back in six weeks she can't come back at all. It makes me sad, but I cannot groom this dog safely on the neglectful schedule her owner prefers.

Her after pic is one of the ugliest I have. Everything is a compromise with this dog.

Those oldies that slowly get worse abs worse. Did 2 today that are 14&16 years old abs each time their from gets worse. Oh well, it's not worth stressing the dog over nitpicking scissor marks

I try to groom the seniors on a weekday that doesn't tend to fill up like Tuesday, and sometimes Monday, although so many groomers around here close Monday, they are usually filled year round. Nice post.
