  • 44/20 thinners + andis pulse ZR clippers

Hello this is my first time posting a thread so I'm not 100% sure how to do this but anywhoo...

I'm a pretty new groomer, only have been grooming for a 1 yr. I'm looking to expand my kit. I'm looking for a good set of thinners, that'll last me a while. I'm also looking for good back up, wireless clippers. I heard 44/20 shears are good and I'm looking at the 7 1/"2 46 -tooth thinners.
And the andis pulse ZR lithium 5-speed.
Any input would be nice- shpanks

I am a long time user of 44/20's and hands down prefer Jeff at Nothern tails 46 tooth thinner.

Bingo Cockerlvr Jeff's are great and I use some tools by Jodi. Learned that from this board.

I own a pair of Pulse ZR's from Andis. To be blunt, I dislike them. They are not terrible clippers but I've had issues with mine. They completely stopped turning on for me right at the 6 month mark. Andis fixed them for me because they were under the 1 year warranty, but they didn't tell me what was wrong with them. If you are newer as well, they are a pair of clippers that CAN NOT be dropped. I feel like they arn't as sturdy as the UltraEdge or Excel. They are bit louder than my Excel 5 speeds and heavier. I have a coworker who has had better luck with her ZR's, but has had a couple instances where they wouldn't turn on even though the base said they were charged. I would personally wait a year or two more for them to hopefully work out some kinks. They are acceptable clippers, but wouldn't really recommend them.
And just a heads up, you really wouldn't want a pair of cordless clippers for back up clippers because the battery can get messed up if you go periods of time without using it. You can always look into Wahl Bravura's, a cordless clipper. I don't know if they are considered a trimmer or a medium clipper? But I can be used for all over hair cuts.

Big time 4420 user here, much better than Glib.

100% of my grooms are with Wahl Bravura + stainless steel snap on combs...cannot groom without them. Wahl service has taken good care of me when needed. AND, you can also use them corded, when needed.

I use my Bravura every day too, and I have dropped it multiple times, breaking the tabs on the blade. I use mine for sanitary work mostly, and my Excel for body work. One thing that surprised me is that cutting with the Bravura and
Wahl combs cuts a different length than the corded clipper Excel with their Wahl combs. Now I know whatever I start the body with, I have to finish with as well.

I'd love to use my Bravuras for all my clipping as I've read about others here doing but I must be missing something because I find they don't work nearly as well as my ACG Super Two Speed clippers. Even with fresh blades on my Bravura, I cannot go as quickly or get a nice finish.
