  • Which dematting products should I use?

I have read many post about dematting spray and cond. I'm ready to order but which one? I was looking at best shot d-mat and Ice on Ice or I can order the Stuff out of my grooming catalog. Which should I put my money and time into?

Thanks so much for your time

I use Quicker Slicker from Natures Specialties and my awesome Les Poochs brushes. Well worth their weight in gold.

My favorite is Natural Groomer Dematt and Leave on Conditioner. It is awesome and has a great smell. It is a vanilla smell which I usually don't care for, but there's is just great! I also like Best Shot Finishing Spray and Conditioner (I think that's what it is called).
This is just another grooming tool that is simply an individual preference. What I would suggest you do is to call around and get any freebie samples you can, and the ones that don't give samples buy the small spray bottle size. This way you can try lots of different sizes and figure it for yourself and also you will then have some extra spray bottles!

Is Quicker slicker one of them? And how do I find Natural Groomer dematt?

          Dematting info

I use the Les pooches matzapper and Best shot ultra vitalizing spray. For matted ears and tails, I spray them and let it sit while I work on the rest of the dog. When I come back to brush, like butter. The Les Pooches brushes are pricey but worth it with time, energy, and frustration saved. They eventually pay for themselves. Good luck.

Glad you ordered the Les Poochs brushes...the sample pack is great. I love the Medicated shampoo and actually everything from them except the ear cleaner. It smells like vinegar and I hate that smell. All the shampoos and conditioners are great!! Quicker Slicker is by Natures Specialties at naturespecialties.com. Good Luck!!

You can order Natural Groomer DeMatt and Best Shot products at Petagree.net . I was so excited to find a place that carries both of these products. If only it carried Les Pooches....that is the line I want to try next.

                Les Pooches brush

I got my brush today they didn't send the mat brush yet, I also got my shampoo from this line also, can't wait to to try them. Thanks for the ideas on the dematting sprays. I'm so tired of working harder than I really need to. Do you use the medicated on dogs with dry skin? I have a few Scnouzers that have dry skin.

Show Season has a detangling spray that is like water - does not affect the texture of the coat at all. Has a nice clean smell and comes in quart bottles for less than $10 I believe. You can check the site http://www.ShowSeasonProducts.com That, coupled with the Les Poochs Mat zapper should do the trick.

I swear by Stazko's Spray. I even use it on my own hair which is akin to the worst nightmare maltese/yorkie hair we've all seen as groomers---fly-away, fine, and very very THICK. The kind that mats if someone in the same city sneezes....

                        dematting sprays

Thank you for all of your input on the different products I will give them a try. It is fun to try new things to make my job a lot better. For years I only ordered supplies out of Pet Edge I have never heard of many of the products I have learned on this website. I feel like grooming is fun again I need this boost.

                          Best Shot and Show Season

I use the Best Shot shampoo then let matted dogs rest in the conditioner for a few minutes, use the Ultravitalizing Mist and use my Les Pooch Mat Zp with the HV and the mats come out easily. It works great on Undercoated dogs.
If is a more silky breed, I use the Show Season with the Detangle spray and do the same with my Purple Les Pooch brush and HV. We have clients comment all the time how the place down the street would always shave their dog but we can get the mats out. We still have to shave some, of course, but this saves some of those dogs the pain of dematting a small bad section, so you don't have to shave the whole dog.

Nope, not dry skin. Use it on dogs that have fungal and bacteral problems. I groom several dogs that have terrible skin from some kind of fungus (they are usually shihtzus, lol). It works great! I suppose you could use it on dry skin, but it's more geared for bacteria and fungus. Oh, and the smell is awesome! Smells like apples! Yum.

I'm always careful when I use the *stuff* on some breed it's leaves them feeling a bit greasy.
