  • alright Oster Clippers I have HAD it

I have been a HUGE fan of oster clippers for many years. Don't know why I just like them always have until these last two pairs. Everything works fine then bam outta nowhere the cord seems to get loose and the motor cuts in and out which is INSANELY annoying. So sorry oster this will be my last pair until you put them back to the way they were Now I am on the hunt for some new clippers. I am not a fan of andis but I did see the new round excel ones and I am curious so that might just be my next clipper any other suggestions on a brand of awesome clippers please feel free to post away!!!!

Glad I'm not the only one who's had problems with their Oster's...mine do the same thing.

I still haven't found anything I like as much either

You might try the Wahl KM2. That was what I switched to after using Oster for years. I likesthem a lot better once I got used to them.

Personally, you couldn't pay me to use Andis. The way they vibrate makes my whole arm ache and my hand goes numb. It feels like a recipe for carpal tunnel to me.

I just don't know what the heck happened to that brand with their clippers but I used to be able to depend on those things for EVERYTHING! Second pair in two years I have had to buy cuz of the cord issue. Helly I am not really fond of the Andis either cause of that irritating vibration. So I am going to look into Wahl and a couple of other brands. Anything ever happen with the Geib clippers that were suppose to come out?

Dittos on the Oster problems! I learned to groom with an old pair of golden A-5 and they were awesome, but any pairs I'd had since then of them have been a huge disapointment. The Powermax is a complete waste, breaks in 6 months and you're unable to get it serviced or buy parts (I won my thank god, because I'd be super pissed if I'd shelled out for them). Even Oster admits that (rep at the booth confirmed that)...so why not fix it!! Then I purchased the turbo A-5 (the blue one) and when it works it's awesome, but it always has cord and switch problems. Then when you change brushes it smells like its burning for weeks (the repairman says they all do that?!).

Right now I'm using a Laube and an andis. I've had good luck with my andis (it's the new purple squarish one) but I haven't had it too long. As for the laube, it works with out clipper vac system and even when my older model (which had some problems) borke their customer service was awesome. Always repaired it for free since it has a 5 yr warranty. I've also, heard the the German Red Clippers are working on making a model that uses A-5 blades, 10 yr warranty and less heavy. I'm hesistant though since they are super expensive and I'm heard they are heavy as hell.

I also use the square purple Andis I will never waste my money on the ultras again 5 clippers in one yr was enough for me of those.. I also too am looking into the German reds .. thats on my wish list.. hehe
I had considered the Laube clippers ,but my hands are very sensitive to vibration and go numb from it .I have tried co workers Laube's many times so those are def out for me. I was also not impressed with the whals clippers.

I like my laubes.........I've come to dislike my osters, they are a huge/heavy clipper. I do have a set of andis, as I can't seem to find my laubes in Canada now.

I use the Andis UltraEdge I have been using them for about 6 years and havent had any problems with them. I have had to change out the blade drive and blade hinges but thats about all. Both easy fixes.

I also use Wahl KM2 clippers. I love them, and have been using them for many years. I did try the switchblade clipper and had to return them 5 times! So i gave up... but that was when they first came out so maybe the fixed whatever was wrong with them..

I gave up on Andis years ago and oster not too long after that. I use Laube Mini Micros exclusively due to hand problems they are so light and they hold up really well and I LOVE the super long cord! I remeber many years ago when a company tried to intro a new clipper when Oster was KING and it never took saw it again a few years ago and asked Darryl Connor(sp?) if the Red Clipper was the same one and she said yes it was and was surprised I remembered it. But I found the clipper too heavy for my hands at that point. I was very impressed with the way it clipped but had to think first of my hands

                          Laube Clippers

Devoted Laube clipper user here!! Won't use anything else. They are light, powerful, sturdy. They are made in the USA...........not China!! They come with lights, they are all corded or cordless or both, the back comes out so you can use a corded pack or a battery pack, two speed or variable . You will be hooked once you use them.

I would recommend the Laube litening cordless. They are light, small in circumference and lots of power. They also came down in price I noticed. If you cant afford the cordless they corded ones are nice also. They come in variable speed also (10 speeds) but you have to ask for the 723 model.

I switched to Andis years ago and never looked back. I despised Oster's "exhaust" and the way it would blow hair on me and how HOT they would get. Do they still have the exhaust or have they changed the style?

I don't find the Andis to vibrate at all or to be too heavy. I've used them for years and see no reason to change (though I also have two Laube iVac's that I love when they are working).

It all comes down to personal preference and what works best for each individual. I can't imaging why anyone would prefer Oster and I also can't understand why there are so many that despise my beloved Andis....lol Thank goodness we have such a selection now! Used to be Oster was king and you didn't have too many other choices.
