  • Davis Gold Shampoo, anyone???

I use davis but have not tried the davis gold.I have recently had a few complaints about dogs itching from the plum natural that I have always loved. I dont know why because I never had trouble before. I was washing one dog and it broke out as I was shampooing. Then the other day one of my employees came up to me with an inflamed bumpy rash all up her arms after using it to bath a dog.Has anyone else experienced this?I do like their 15/1 shampoo that you can get scented oe unscented.I usually add a little of their quick dry to it for big hairy dogs.

It does clean well, and the fragrence choices are nice. I used it for a long time before I switched to B3. The one thing I didnt like was that it seemd to kinda dull the white on some coats. They just dont seem as bright, and you have to use conditioner on a lot of dogs with it.

          Davis Gold Shampoo

IMy groomong instructor used Davis Gold as a regular shampoo. I prefer Davis Baking soda & Oatmeal Really takes the stink out of the really nasty smelling shave downs

Sounds like maybe it could have been a bad batch. Did this all happen around the same time? We've had that happen before. Use the same shampoo for years and never have a problem, then all of a sudden you get itchy dogs, or it doesn't mix like it should. I think that is just a bad batch. I'm sure if you call and tell Davis they will send you replacements.

The only time I have used the Davis Gold was when we were using it as a flea shampoo with their pyrethrin additive. Wasn;t using it to get dogs clean, so I have no clue about that. Scott Wasserman used to use it all the time in his Prima at the clinic he worked in. He liked it. With Shampoos the only way to see if they work fr you is to try them out. Your water, your technique and other variables will affect what you think of them. What works here may not work elsewhere. the only things I find that work everywhere are some of the specialty shampoos, like volumizers, that do not rely on water as much as cleaning shampoos do.

Thanks Windfall, I did not think of that. I was thinking maybe they switched formulas.I did get a sour bottle of coconut shampoo once, it smelled awful.About the Gold, Davis is great about sending samples. All you have to do is ask.

I used the Gold in the past with the Davis auto shampoo system and it worked well.

Overall, their Protein and Aloe is my all time favorite. It is very rich, has great sudsing and leaves the coat luxurious. I have tried the Plum Natural with silk proteins, but the Aloe/Protein is much better/richer imo.
