Long Title, I know. I use the metal Wahl combs and love them. They don't ping off but....today I was using the green one and it hit the tangle on this little good, patient Maltese. It pulled the blade away from the clipper and broke the two end teeth on my #30! I was NOT happy! This blade is new from October! I use it daily. The fur was so soft and I had brushed even with Tropiclean de matt conditioner in the tub,and thought I had them out. You just don't see it coming. It messed up the metal part that holds onto the clipper. Dang. I had this gals' fiance standing in the corner too close and it was getting on my nerves big time. But I think I would have hit that tangle anyway. Now I need a new attachment and my #30 tho' only for wahl, has chipped teeth. I do reverse. I spent a long time de-matting this dog because I know they wanted her fluffy for her visit to Grandmas'. She really needed a 7F. But since she was so good, I saved the fur.

YES. 30 and 40 blades can and will be eaten on the Wahl combs if they slip at all. The tens and 15s do not slip and do not break, and give you a nice finish too.My Blog The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why. –Mark Twain

I love mine too, but I was not warned about a #40 under it the first time I used it. I use a #15 now.
I was using a #15 under a 2 last week. lost control of the clippers and dropped them head down on top of my foot, doesn't sound so bad, but I was wearing flippies that day ( I know I know) I now have 7 holes on the top of my foot and every toe is bruised. When it happen I screamed cause I dropped my clippers. (broke 3 teeth on the blade and bent all on the comb) after I gone done cussing about the clippers the pain set in. But I just bent the comb back in place, ( love that I can do that ) and got another blade.
sorry that was off topic...lol

Yep. Been there, done that. I have broken teeth on #30s and #40s with the metal Wahls, but oh how I love them. I now use a #15 blade under them and have not broken 1 tooth in the last 6 months or so. Definately switch to the #15. You'll still love the finish and still get to use your beloved metal combs. Happy Howlidays to all.

depending on where the broken teeth are
if you have no other #40s I think you can safely use it under a snap on ONLY. I have done that. I have a #15 that is new so I will use it today. I know I can't use #40 with Wahl, but can with the other plastic snap ons.
I think I will use all my old broken blades and somehow tie a ribbbon thru them and hang them on a Christmas tree. LOL In a shop setting, it might look cute. LOL They must be good for something, right?

wow, definitely chipped 40's but never a problem with 30!! I don't like using a ten under, I don't feel like it gives me as smooth of a finish and creates more scissor work.Scratch a dog and you'll find a permanent job. ~Franklin P. Jones

I usually just used it for cleaning out pads.My Blog The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why. –Mark Twain

I bought them from Jay ( A verbal warning would have been awesome), and was so excitied to use them I guess I didn't get that far. But good to Know I wasn't the only one who "didn't read the package", you know, because it "says it so clearly"

Hmmmm. Not only are there two warnings (front AND back) on my packaging, there is a large, yellow, highlighted, warning box that says: "DO NOT USE ON A #40 BLADESET OF ANY KIND"
I dunno about you but that seems pretty clear to me. I always read the directions before using anything new to make sure there isn't anything I'm overlooking. There are 3 different kinds of people in this world: Dog people, cat people, and rational people who don't have a problem liking two things at the same time.
