  • Organic Shampoos.....what is out there

I am looking at offering organic options for my mobile customers. Has anyone had luck finding good shampoos that are not too hight PH? How about creme rinses. There doesn't seem to be much out there>

Check out Envirogroom. I like their Mint Condition. Smells good and it's nice and light.

Check out Show Seasons Naturals Line. I do not use it myself, but it's worth looking into and they list all of their ingredients on their bottles so you know what you are using. I use the SS regular line and love it, so I would imagine the Naturals Line is a great line as well.

First of all, forget the pH thing. It's really not important. You use way more water than you do shampoo, and not once have I ever heard anyone suggest testing the pH of your water. So stop worrying about that.

And while you're at it, learn the truth about dog skin and pH. Dogs naturally have a higher pH than humans. And there's a wide difference between breeds; If I remember right, German Shepherds have the highest, Labs the lowest...but that could be reversed, and I don't have time to go look it up right now. The point is, there's a big difference by breed. Yet you never see a shampoo labled "Do not use on German Shepherd Dogs" or "For Labradore Retrievers only." That's because pH isn't all that important, and it would seem most of the world is laboring under the illusion that dog skin has a low pH, when in fact it's the opposite.

If you think it's important to go organic, go for it. Personally, I think it's a waste of money.

          organics

Thanks for the brand suggestions and PH lesson. I am not that excited about organics, however a community I will be working in is. I figure if they are willing to pay for it, and it will be an add-on, then why not. I have increased my sales by 26% by offering spa packages and extras, and the people in this area expect to be able to upgrade their pet grooming! More money in my pocket and not much more time. I was concerned about one of the organics I tried as it seemed to dry my hands a little. I will be doing some experimenting with oils of essence and fiddle around to see if I can come up with custom blends for particular dogs. Just kind of thinking out loud I guess. I see that Envirogroom offers some of these premixed and I have contacted them just because of reading what you all had to say about their products, but there does not seem to be anyone who does their type blends but in organic.

What upgrade are you offering & how do you decide on a price for them? I would be careful about designing EO blends as that borders on practicing vet medicine.

Organic & Natural are two different things

In order for a product to be labeled organic it has to have certified organic ingredients.
What that means is all plants used were grown without the use of pesticides.

Natural is used very freely and can be slapped on any product. It really doesn't have a legal labeling definition so you really have to research to figure out how "natural" a product is.

Here are two true organic product lines I'm aware of.

Nuhemp: http://www.nuhemp.com/ they have a shampoo I sell in my store but don't use for grooming clients.

                Wholistic Pet: http://www.thewholisticpet.com/index...4&ParentCat=43

I sell all the supplements by Wholistic Pet and have a gallon of their grooming shampoo.
It was very expensive and we only use it for people who request organic only. It does work well.

                Hope this helps.

I second this. I use their Naturals line- and their Essential and Glisten shampoos especially are to die for. Their scent is wonderful, and they work beautifully, too. They mix and dilute very easily and the dilution ratio is great. Love this stuff.

I put together packages that offer special shampoos (Milk Bath) and moisturizers, teeth brushing, paw pad conditioning, ect. I try to come up with something each month, for example pumpkin spice shampoo for Oct. Prices usually run $12-$15 or $20 extra depending on what the package offers.
I would think putting blends and packages together would be no different than making my own soap products and marketing them. It is common to use essential oils, ect, in these.

I agree the naturals really aren't all that great. Organic appeals more to the clients I am looking for. Organic producers go through quite a process to get certified. I will check out the ones you listed. Thank you.

I switched to Quaduped and I am not sneezing. My cockers are wonderful and the problem dogs are clearing up. Nice company also.

Not on dogs, it isn't. I don't mean to sound like a doomsayer, but, I'm just saying I'd be careful. If I were an aromatherapist or had contracted one I wouldn't be so tense about things, but, I'm not.
