  • Question about Hydrosurge shampoo

I am thinking of getting the hydrosurge system and am wondering about their shampoos. For those of you that have used them can you tell me which one of them smells the best or leaves the longest lasting fragrance on the pet. What do you think of their shampoos in general?

    Thanks for your insight

Used Hydrosurge shampoos for many years at a shop I worked at previously. First thing I did when I opened my own place was ditch the shampoo. We had used Lemon Clear and it did seem to clean well enough, but the scent was very subtle, and I doubt it lasted all that long. Switched to Grimenator, and I personally love the smell of it, and I know it lasts and lasts on the dogs, clients have told me so. Just MHO.

I use a Hydrosurge for all my pre-bathing, minus all the fancy shampoo dispensing system stuff. I get Hydrosurge shampoos at Wallyworld, an 18 oz. bottle for 6 bucks. 1 bottle lasts forrrrrever, and they come in about 8 0r 10 different "breeds"...Hypo, Extra Mild, 2 General Use, Oatmeal,Whitening, etc. They all have different smells (except Hypo)...none of them are objectionable...but honestly, by the time they are diluted down by the re-circ...there really isn't a ton of "smell" left anyway.

I previously worked at a corp shop which has a deal with oster. They ONLY use hydrosurge products and personally I hated it. The system broke routinely after 6 months (granted we had a large volume of dogs) and you'd have to struggle to contact the company to send replacements. Then if you do not send the orginally system back in within a day or 2 they charge you for it reguardless if the old one does come back to them in the mail.

The shampoo's really are not the greatest either. If the dog was really dirty we had to use them straight from the bottle to truly get clean. The apricot sulfer, was the best of the bunch though, because it will cut some of the greasiness out if needed. The conditioners are what leave any scent. The one that was the strongest was the Pumpkin Spice. It smells like a red hot though.

I've use a basic proportioner or a bathing beauty personally. I like to be able to use a variety of products and not feel pressured by their sales deal.

I can't stand the shampoos. Any of them. After washing & washing & washing your dog still has a film on the fur.

Hydrosurge shampoos are pretty decent if NOT used in their bathing system. I realize that is counter-productive, but that is how it works. We are a corporate store and while we were switching over from one bathing system to another we had to hand dilute the shampoos. They worked very well. I especially love their apricot scrub and their low shed shampoo. The scrub is great for problem skin. The low shed shampoo has emu oil in it, which gives the coat a wonderful sheen and really does make the hair shed out. I don't even just use it on the hairy dogs, I really love to use it on yorkies, use the apricot scrub to exfoliate, then the low shed shampoo and it really adds shine. It also eliminates the need for a conditioner on maltese, I don't always like a conditioner on maltese as it can weigh the hair down, even spray on stuff. I am not a big fan in general of oatmeal shampoo, so I really don't use that one. I really do love their hypo-allergenic aloe tearless, it very gentle and soothing to skin, I use this one on allergy dogs. Their whitening works pretty well and I totally love the peppermint smell. These shampoos would work best w/ hand diluting or using a bathing system where you can add how much shampoo you want. The hydrosurge system dilutes them so far down they really only work on dogs that are basically already clean. "When you dilute shampoo that far down the dogs still smells like a wet dog, even when the hair squeaks when you are done. Plus you have to have exceptional water pressure to get the system to work properly.

this is the exact issue the salon I work with has ..continuously breaking down , leaking, most of the shampoos dry my hands the only decent shampoo is the apricot sulfa scrub as long as you don't run it through the system.. the conditioners do smell very strong while using them, almost choking strong the best smelling shampoo is the kiwi strawberry but it doesn't last on the dog.personally I won't waste my money on the system nor the shampoos.

I have had the system for over 4 years now and I lease it, so if anything goes wrong with it they are quick to fix it and send me the part quickly. As for the shampoo it is okay. I usually use it for the first bath and then follow up with the second bath in Natures Specialties. It works well for thick coated dogs and helps out a lot getting down deep. The shampoo doesn't have a very strong after scent, and they have currently changed the lemon to a new citrus smell which has a pleasant smell.

                  Kicking myself!!!!!!

I have used the Hydro-Surge shampoos I posted above...for several years now for all my pre-bathing.
I go to the double-secret-hidden-back aisle in the Pet Dept at Walmart...and stock up. 6 bucks a bottle...I always get 5 or 6 bottles of each breed, every 6 months (that's how long they last me.)

Ever since I posted this...I've made 5 trips...no shampoos in stock. Oh..I take that back...one time there was 1 sticky bottle of whitening YOU LEFT FOR ME!!!!
I don't know who you are..but quit hoggin all the shampoo. I installed a very teeny spy camera in that aisle (plus I have "my sources") and I will identify and expose you for the hoarder you are. Cut me a break!!!!!! Sheesh. No good deed.....

I do not like the hydrosurge shampoos. My fav is the Apricot-sulfur and the whitening shampoo used straight. I agree that it always feels like there is a film on the dogs. I can't wait to leave and use something else. lol

Had to use the hydrosurge shampoos at the salon I worked at, we would always have to wash the dogs with another shampoo to get them clean, hydrosurge shampoos won't clean a dirty dog.

The groomer I am doing my apprenticeship for uses the Hydrosurge shampoos. We use the dilution bottles. She has the old system which I really don't think she has ever used with the shampoos doing the mixing. We use the Grimnator and it seems to do really good on the filthy dogs. The Orange and Tangarine shampoos are good for fleas. I like the Apple/Oatmeal but some dogs like the Yorkies it sometimes leaves greasy feeling. I also like the All Purpose, but the Orange leave a clean smell without being overbearing like some.

I work for a corp that uses Hydrosurge and I hate it. We all hate it. If I have a filthy dog and my manager isn't looking, I just grab a fresh bottle and pop it open and pour it on. It works great for bad dogs that don't want to/can't be touched. I can sit there with the Hydrosurge on blast with the best shampoo on a dirty samoyed leg and it is STILL gray unless I come in and scrub it with tearless (it's the only one we can have in a pump! ) But I'd have to agree that the only good ones were the whitening and apricot. I don't even use it on my dog. I swear by hand washing, even if it is more work. It's worth it.

Does any one know if I can use the HydroSurge apricot exfoliating shampoo on cats? I really love what it does to a dog's coat and was wondering if it's safe to use on my cats.
