  • Looking into switching shampoos

wondering what everyone else uses and why you prefer that brand/type. Also what is best for dogs with allergies and dry skin (kind/brand).
Also what is your thoughts on Coat Handler and is the conditioner better than the D-Mat from Bark2Basics.
    Several questions I know.

I use bark to basics, but I use espree whitening. The b2b skin remedy shampoo is awsome. I think the coathandler is a better shampoo, and I use it on my own dogs, but we get the "country dirty" dogs in the shop and the b2b is more economical.

Some people swear by those lines, but others swear they ruined their pets coats and skin. I found them extremely drying...neither one is on my top ten list. Neither of the conditioners IMO is actually a conditioner, more of a creme rinse......

Check out the threads on Show Seasons and WhyB3Itch. I have never used the last but the former is my primary shampoo supplier. NS has some top grade shampoos as well but are harder to find for some of us. SS has a sample pack you can buy for a reasoable amount that comes with tons of 2 ounce bottles.

Coat Handler is my favorite whitening shampoo and conditioner. I've tried some others but keep going back to those two. The only thing I've found is that it's not good for dogs who are extremely sensitive, it can cause a reaction. I use Davis Oatmeal and Baking Soda for those... also my favorite. I like Davis brand for a lot of other stuff. So for me it's Coat Handler and Davis. I still try small samples of other stuff once in a while but so far...nada.

We use E-Z Groom products here in our shop. The staff is great there (we deal with Larry) and I have yet to find a dud product in their line of shampoos. Their Oatmeal is great and their medicated shampoo actually smells good! They just came out with a Sugar plumb anti static shampoo and it works wonders on Newfoundlands and Clumber spaniel coats. It's the only shampoo we retail here, we love it so much. Give them a call and give them a try, you won't regret it.

Confessions of a former shampoo addict......

B3 Why Itch is awesome! I have tried soooooo many and the B3 has worked so much better then anything else. I have run out and bought other "high end" shampoos at dog shows or grooming shows thinking I would give them another try, but keep going back to the B3. I have gotten to the point where I wont even really try anything else. Give it a try and you wont regret it.

                good shampoo

The salon that I just started working at uses Top Performance shampoos. Because Top Performance was so cheap I didn't think it would be any good. I was wrong. The Fresh Pet Shampoo cleans good and leaves a pleasant fragrance that lingers on the dog. The oatmeal and flea shampoos are also very good.

I was using DK, but I switch here recently to Quadruped. It does wonders on my clients dogs. Love their leave in conditioner. All of my clients love the scent of the Quadruped line and the cologne.

I'm a Show Seasons junkie, I admit it. Love their products. I've never seen B2B as a high end shampoo, more a middle of the road type. When I was opening my mobile I wanted to use only the best products so I came here and asked what were considered the top lines. Les Poochs and Show Seasons seemed to be it at the time, the most mentioned top products, so I got samples of both. The Les Poochs were nice, but not better than the Show Seasons and with some of the products I thought the SS worked much better and then when I found out what a reasonable price tag it came with I was sold. I've tried quadraped and the smell makes me sick to my stomach. I wasn't impressed with their dematting solution either. The shampoo worked well I just couldn't get past the scent. Isle of Dogs I like too, but I'm just a die hard SS fan. I've loved everything I've tried. Their Detangle, awesome, Results Rinse, Awesome, Speed Dry, awesome, etc.
I've also used the Top Performance stuff and was not impressed. Had to use a lot more product to get the dogs clean and the fresh pet dried out my hands.

I use a few different shampoos. I LOVE Tropiclean Kava. It makes my dogs coats just shine and feel so silky! I also love their Awapuhi Whitener and Oatmeal Tea Tree. I use the B2B Hypo and Deodorizing shampoo. Their Skin Remedy is wonderful! I also love the Ultimate shampoo and Griminator from Groomer's Edge. I do switch around a bit as I am newer and am still trying to find what works best. In my area, I can't afford to use the expensive shampoos as I won't get it back in grooming. I have an itch to try the Espree Plum Perfect as I love their Rainforest Facial. My clients love the smell of that.

I do think that you have to try different shampoos to get what is right for you. When I groomed at home I had different ideas as my water was different. I had to change a few shampoo options because they worked differently at home on well water.

I am sure I will still try new shampoos as I can. I am always looking for that perfect shampoo! I do use the Honey Almond from B2B and the Kava from Tropiclean as my daily shampoos. I love they way they rinse clean.
