I was going to order the Silver LP brush, like I was recommended to do by a few of you on here, but the price is a lot more than I was expecting! So I am wondering what is the next best brush for a Standard Poodle, or must I have the Silver? Thanks.

Did you call the company? Call Marie to place your order...she is the best. This really is a great brush and worth every dime.

It'll last you thru Addie's lifetime...and, perhaps your next Poodle (perrish the thought...lol!)
After 30 years grooming...takes a whole lot to adjust my "addie"itude...but I do believe LP brushes have done as much. I don't think you will regret it.
Often it's not what you say, but how you say it.

Yes, I called, it's not available on the website. All the other regular brushes are around $45-55 but the Silver is $75! So it's really worth the extra money, and would be a lot better for my Poodle than say, the red or green?

That's the thing... I'm not a groomer. I just groom my own Spoo and a few friends' dogs. So it's more expensive for me...

It is, IMO the best LP brush out there. It is really the one I use the most. Mine is going to get a workout tomorrow on my three cockers that got skipped last week.....now that the grandkids are gone, we are going to be able to get them done!

I have the double green and single green, and I can feel and see the difference on my Standard with the Silver. I think the red one is a matt breaker. I don't have that brush so I can't give you the pros or cons.

I can tell you I have used the double greem since 2005 as my only brush..and I haven't lost a tyne (is that how you spell it). They are great brushes.

I just ordered another silver brush. They are on sale right now. I think they were $50 a brush.

                        And I'm a Cheapskate!

I was NO WAY going to pay $75 for a brush. Then about 5 years ago in Burbank Sarah Hawks put her lunch down, ran and got her tool bag and showed me the brushes she used and how to use them. She was so enthusiastic to teach me how to make grooming easier on both me and the pet I bought a large green and a purple. I'm still using these brushes. Anybody out there got a 5 year old Universal?
I now own just about every LP brush.
Spend the money. These brushes are worth every penny.

Thanks all for the opinions, I ordered it last week and I hope you're all right! : D Just kidding. But I can't wait for it to get here. How are they usually with shipping, and do they use UPS or USPS?

I ordered a silver brush today, so I'm wondering the same on shipping stuff.

Oh, and can someone describe the motion you use to use this brush, just so I'm sure I'm using the right way? I have the purple double-wide and the red mat zapper, but I want to be sure I'm getting hte "optimum results" out of the brushes

Got my Les Pooch today! Wow, first impression is that this thing is faaancy! Came in a little gift bag and a nice plastic case, and two biscuits for Addie. How nice. It's a lot smaller than I expected! But boy, I'm impressed already. I can just feel the difference on all the little tines - so much smoother, bigger, and stronger. They aren't nearly as scratchy as my cheap slickers.

Brushed Addie out with it - wow what a difference! I can feel that it is breaking so much less coat, and it really gets tangles out effortlessly. I thought it wasn't doing much cause it didn't feel like it, but then I ran a comb through the part I was brushing - tangle free! Didn't take me long to brush her either, even though it's small. Overall I'm rather impressed and happy with my purchase. I guess we'll have to see in a few years how it holds up to see if it's really worth it, but so far it's exceeding my expectations.

The one thing I don't get is what's with the straight pins? No idea how to use them. And some of you have said that you use kind of a tap and pull technique, but the little pamphlet that came with the brush said to brush straight down, but to go in a circle on matts. ?
