I have a beautiful Silky in my shop right now and his owner is very happy with my groom on him but by the next day he's all wavy again (this also happens w/some Yorkies), is there a product I can use on him so that his beautiful straight hair will stay straight for more than a day? I've even tried using a tiny bit of top knot gel but I have to be careful w/how much product I use too because his hair can look greasy if I use too much or the wrong thing. Thanks.

Question. How long does that beautiful hair style you get from your own stylist last? If your stylist uses a hot iron to straighten your hair, how long does it stay that way? Or if he/she uses a curling iron, does your hair stay curly the next day?
Short of chemical straightening (which I would NEVER do, and am not suggesting anyone should) the hair is going to get waves fairly quickly. Moisture in the air, the dog's activity and self-grooming, and sleeping on it are all going to have an effect.
If the owner whats it straight it's going to take a spray bottle of water and a blow dryer to get it that way again.

Most silky's should have naturally straight hair anyway, show dogs are bred for better hair. Obviously there are differences in hair types, even within breeds, but if he has naturally curly/wavy hair that's not the typical type for the breed. So comparing show dogs with correct coats to pet quality (I'm guessing) is apples to oranges. Just because they're the same breed doesn't make them all equal. There are 3 different kinds of people in this world: Dog people, cat people, and rational people who don't have a problem liking two things at the same time.
