  • Jodi's 4 new releases...

She sent them to me without me even knowin' it! (She knew I wanted the new releases but I hadn't officially ordered them).

    She sent:

    Tools of the Trade

The Havanese (Haven't watched this one yet)

    Secrets of the Contest Ring

Caution: Handle with Care (Handling pets safely)

Tools of the trade covers all the tools you really need, what their purpose is, the differences in types (such as stripping/carding tools, etc), blades and blade lengths, dryers, tables, clipper vs. trimmer, etc...great for the new groomer. It does not recommend certain brands, though she does mention some of them them and the differences.

Caution: Handle with Care is about handling and positioning, keeping in mind the dogs with luxating patellas or arthritis, etc. It also shows how to handle faces in various ways for the dog that doesn't like his face handled, particularly his beard. It also covers how to take a dog from a client and how to hand a dog back to a client to help avoid being nipped and many other handling issues.

Secrets of the Contest Ring: Boy, this one is a favorite of mine and I've been waiting for it on pins and needles since I was asking questions about DVD's on this topic in the past. WOW---she had TONS of notes that she covered, TONS. It's about 90 minutes long, and it covers many things that I would never have even thought of as a new competitor. I believe this one also covers stacking your dog, and she brought in a professional handler to demo stacking with a dog and explain why it's important. This DVD also covers how to find GOOD quality for competition. I have always thought Jodi's Deshedding DVD was her best, but this one is up there right along with it, I HIGHLY recommend this one, it is so informative! She had PAGES of notes that she went through, it was excellent!

The Havanese: Well, I'll watch it tonight or tomorrow if I can and update this.

She is easy on the eyes and a pleasure to listen to

        Dear Tammy,

These DVDs are great. She gave me two at the Groom and Kennel Expo in Pasadena over the weekend. I am honored by Jodi as she featured the Groomers Helper® in two of them. She is a very hard working lady and still goes to work everyday and grooms.

I visited her and Dave a few months back. Jodi has a lovely house in the country. They took me and Mark to a great restaurant for Lobster dinner.

She has introduced her new line of grooming cloths and they are fashionable and functional. I especially like the miniskirt.

I have been so fortunate that so many great groomers have adopted the Groomers Helper®. Sue Zecco and Jay Scruggs have featured it in one of their videos. Melissa VerPlank has also. Sam Kohl has featured it in his books and you talk about it all the time. I am very lucky to be a part of such a caring industry. Thanks to all who have recognized it as a beneficial tool.

Thank you Jodi and Dave and see you in Atlanta.

        Chuck

          I bet you do! LOL

And I have a Groomers Helper on all 3 of my tables at work, and my former bather AND my current co-worker who is a groomer both say, they could not work without the Groomers Helper. I never had to force them to use it, I just showed it to them, and how to use it. They both say they would not groom / dry dogs without it. It saved my grooming career, I can swear by that statement.

            LOL, it's totally unintentional.

I swear that I am not getting one red cent for opening my mouth. I figure if I can tell people about her DVD's, then they can choose for themselves.

Jodi has never asked me to say anything about her DVD's, or her clothing line. It all comes from my personal experience with her and her collection of DVD's.

So that is why I sing her praises. Growing up, I was always 'average.' Average student, average gymnast, average looks, average everything. Grooming is the one thing where I feel like I have potential, and Jodi helped me a little with my poodle before SuperZoo. She helps me see my mistakes and the things I am doing right. You have no idea how much winning that competition meant to me, even though I can see soooo many flaws in the groom when I look at the photos. I won it because she helped me, and I am so grateful.

If I don't like something, I simply say nothing. I just haven't had to do that with anything Jodi has done.

Ok, and now for the Havanese DVD.

Jodi does a trim she calls "The Shag," in this DVD. I wish I could explain it, but you have to see it. In fact, she does 2 trims on the same dog. I have to be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect, or if I'd think, "Well, I only have 2 Havanese, I'm not sure how interested I am in this DVD at this time."

Well, let me tell you, you can do this trim on other breeds, too! The dog is soooo cute!!! The trim is soooo cute! I just love it! This DVD is up there for being a "something new" to do at work. You know it gets kind of monotonous at times, and this DVD is causing me to think of what dogs I can try this trim on.

I think they are still putting them together.

I had been bugging them (her and Dave) about the competition DVD for a LONG time. She was startin' to harrass me about "chomping at the bit" for the competition DVD, so they sent some to me. Now that I think about it, I think she sent me 2 that I wasn't expecting. I was wanting 2 others that I think are going to be released soon. It's ok, one of them (The Havanese) is in my top 5, so that's all good now!

I'm always bugging her about DVD's. I am a visual and hands-on learner, so they work perfect for me. I read very well, but I don't learn very well from reading. The DVD's just work for me. I do think she had them at Pasadena though.

I just finished watching Jodi's Competition DVD. If any groomer is considering compeition THIS IS THE DVD FOR YOU!!! This is EXACTLY the information I wanted before I competed for the first time back last September.

A couple "things" happened that led to me really loosing my cool twice (went and cried in the bathroom for the first, actually cried in the ring for the second--I know real professional, but if I'm crying in public it means I am so angry I want to strangle someone), if I had watched this DVD I would have known how to avoid the situation.

Jodi tells you what you need to have in your tack box, she tells you how to prep the dog, she tells you some hints for judging, she tells you how to get dogs to compete with..... Basically she tells you everything you need to know.

THANK YOU Jodi! Tammy might be her biggest fan, but I think I should get points for being runner up.

Jedd- Your original post was MUCH funnier. I came on to demand photos.

Yep, I'm thinking this is Jodi's best one yet. Really detailed.

I'm kinda mad though. Now everybody will have an edge instead of just me. All this time I thought she'd made that DVD just for me because I kept bugging her about it, and now look, all of you can get it. Sheesh. I can't win!

I don't know that I'm her biggest "fan," she just treats me like I am. She probably treats everybody like her biggest fan because that's the kind of person I think she is.

All I know is that I learn things a certain way---and somehow she has pegged the way I learn. I could read a book 50 times and still not quite get it. I guess what they say is true, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Her gift isn't really grooming---it is TEACHING.
