She sent them to me without me even knowin' it! (She knew I wanted the new releases but I hadn't officially ordered them).
She sent:
Tools of the Trade
The Havanese (Haven't watched this one yet)
Secrets of the Contest Ring
Caution: Handle with Care (Handling pets safely)
Tools of the trade covers all the tools you really need, what their purpose is, the differences in types (such as stripping/carding tools, etc), blades and blade lengths, dryers, tables, clipper vs. trimmer, etc...great for the new groomer. It does not recommend certain brands, though she does mention some of them them and the differences.
Caution: Handle with Care is about handling and positioning, keeping in mind the dogs with luxating patellas or arthritis, etc. It also shows how to handle faces in various ways for the dog that doesn't like his face handled, particularly his beard. It also covers how to take a dog from a client and how to hand a dog back to a client to help avoid being nipped and many other handling issues.
Secrets of the Contest Ring: Boy, this one is a favorite of mine and I've been waiting for it on pins and needles since I was asking questions about DVD's on this topic in the past. WOW---she had TONS of notes that she covered, TONS. It's about 90 minutes long, and it covers many things that I would never have even thought of as a new competitor. I believe this one also covers stacking your dog, and she brought in a professional handler to demo stacking with a dog and explain why it's important. This DVD also covers how to find GOOD quality for competition. I have always thought Jodi's Deshedding DVD was her best, but this one is up there right along with it, I HIGHLY recommend this one, it is so informative! She had PAGES of notes that she went through, it was excellent!
The Havanese: Well, I'll watch it tonight or tomorrow if I can and update this.
