  • Constance Couch (Groomer, Trainer, Rescue) Has Passed

    Constance “Coni” Couch, 53, Mandan; the Lord took Coni home after a five-year battle with cancer on Jan. 31, 2016, at Sanford Continuing Care Center off Collins, Mandan. Coni was born Feb. 10, 1962, in Bismarck, to Robert “Bob” Couch and Roxi (David) Polzin.

    Coni had a lifelong love of all animals. She owned and operated Jillian’s Haven — a pet rescue — as well as Sitters for Critters — a home pet sitting business. She worked at St. A’s and at home health care. She worked in Canyon City, Colo., at an Arabian ranch. Coni was the dog trainer at Pet Smart, and later a dog groomer at Groomingdales in Mandan.

    Coni is survived by her father, Robert “Bob” (Sharon Nastrom) Couch, Hazelton; her mother, Roxi (David) Polzin, Bismarck; her sister, Kelly Hochhalter, Bismarck; a nephew, Ty Hochhalter, Bismarck; her brother, Alan Couch and sister-in-law, Maryann Cahoon, Center; her nephews, Austin Barse and Robert and Colby Couch, Center; an aunt, Sandy Mosset, Canyon City, Colo.; and several cousins and wonderful friends, Nancy Gerhart, Denise Ziegler, Marci Narum and Sharon Schwindt.

    Coni was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jack and Gladys Fox, Raymond Couch and LaVern Falconer; and her brother-in-law, Michael Hochhalter.
