  • Hiring Groomers Has Got to be the WORST Thing EVER!

I'm DESPERATELY searching for a smaller space (haven't heard back from the pet store yet) so I don't have to have a 2nd groomer cause I am SOOO done . Groomers not showing up for their trial grooms. Hiring groomers who just never show up for their first day of work (no call, no nothing). Hiring groomers who somehow did decent trial grooms (maybe needed some training but seems decent enough to train) then couldn't do a half respectable kennel cut on a dog with nice hair. Hiring groomers that said they could do 6 dogs a day and struggle to do 3 bichon/shih tzu shave downs a day. Hiring a groomer for a part time job then having them tell me on the first day of work that they have 2 interviews for full time work and they'd be starting the next week. Hiring a groomer just for them to quit 2 days later with no reason.
My last groomer was fantastic, but she was only here on a work visa so she went back home after it expired.

I could feel my blood pressure rise while reading your thread........so sorry for your frustration. Are you in a position where you could work from home? Not having to pay rent somewhere is wonderful.

You need a BATHER not a groomer, that you can train to groom. A bather would allow you to do more dogs per day and make more money PLUS you can train them to help with bath only dogs (BUILD THAT BUSINESS!) and do basic shavedowns and stuff you have to finish or touch up ONLY. Within 6 months to a year you have a trained groomer if done right . PLUS you can build your bath business to support the bather AND your business.

You need a business model revamp not a groomer.

and right there is why I work alone. I gave up long ago trying to hire good, reliable groomers. It's a headache I just don't ever want to deal with again.

Unfortunately, no I cannot work out of my house. Not zoned for it.
A bather is a possibility but as of right now I'm just going to keep desperately searching for a smaller cheaper space I don't NEED anyone else. Then if I decide I want a bather it's not a NEED it's a want.
I have 2-3 possibilities of places. Crossing my fingers!!

Good luck to you. Agree that having a bather would be a better way to go. A bather that can do brushouts and nails and pads can save you a TON of time, and wear and tear on your body.
