  • "Hand-stripping" a double coated dog

Read online, a groomer offering "hand-stripping" for the purpose of deshedding a Mal/Husky cross that's blowing it's coat. The groomer in question says he trained in Europe.

Anyone ever heard of this? Is it just a European thing to call deshedding, hand-stripping?

Is he confused, or am I?

I'm sure it's deshedding and done with a deshed tool. I use a stripping knife to pull undercoat out but not on double coats.

Pretty sure it's deshedding done with deshed tools. Never heard of hand stripping a dog that's blowing it's coat.
